    Is botting really worth it?

    Is botting really profitable?

It cost $60 USD to buy a botting account, plus you have to pay for the electricity cost of running your computer.

On the other hand, D3 gold is only selling for 1 mil per dollar now. You have to make $60 million gold to just recover the account cost.

I have seen people getting banned after making 5 mil.

Depends on your luck really, some people got banned 5 hours after they started botting- in that case you'd lose money on botting, but if you can manage to bot for a week without a ban then it would be worth it.

**** no its not worth it at this point. For $60 you could get at least 40 million and that will get you geared well. You are going to have to bot for days, maybe a week, straight to get that. All the while hoping you dodge the banhammer.

People are actually trying to make money off of botting, I don't think they care much about gear and bs like that. =)

    Investment: 3x 55 euro = 165 euro
Income of selling gold: 700 euro
Profit: 535 euro in 3 weeks (got banned all 3 accounts after 3 weeks)

It's still worth it, but i will not buy new accounts until game creation limit is up and some solutions will go around.

Just wanted to chime in and note that gold on the RMAH sells for $2.50 per million, not $1.00 per million. After the double cut, you end up with about $1.80 per million, which means you break even at just over 33 million, not 60 million. And that's only if you don't find a more lucrative way to unload your gold.

And the cost of running your computer, really? The cost barely registers on my power bill here. Aren't you going to have it on anyway, running one bot or program or another?

So risky? Always. But perhaps not as dire as you make out.

It all depends on how long it takes for your ban to take place. If you get banned after 2 weeks of botting, you definitely get your money worth's back. I recently decided to sell my igg so i can get the $60 to buy new account if banned.

I just started botting like 4 days ago and have made like 28 million igg. If i multiply that by the $2.50 per/million. That is over the $60 worth of new key. So everything i make now will just be icing on the cake.

Don't sell your gold in USD. Change your currency to AUD. Sell at A$2.80 per million at weekdays and A$2.90~A$3.00 at weekends, you will get A$2.00 after the two fee cuts. Add AUD currencies in your PayPal, just wait for the AUD rise until AUD1 > USD1 then convert it.

Nice tip, thanks! Lately I've been investing in gems and selling those - for 1,000,000 gold and enough flawless gems to start, you can make two stars that sell for ~$1.80 each, so ~$3.60 per million.

    Why I bot:

    1. My bot cost me $40, and I currently have made over 120 million igg. Even at $1 for 1m igg, that means I have spent $40 to get $120 worth of gold, which turns into $.33 per million and as I collect gold, my price per million keeps going down.
    2. There are other ways to make money than selling gold on the RMAH, such as doing gems, like TMichael stated. Soon, I'll start trying to make some real money, but for right now, I am just getting my characters set up to maximize my earning potential.
    3. It removes the grinding factor. I work 90 hours a week and the last thing I want to do when I get a couple spare hours to play DIII is farm gold or XP. I did that on my main character, so I don't feel the need to do it with *all* my characters.
    4. I have plenty of gold to even help out my friends who don't have gold.

So, yeah, for me, botting is well worth it.
