Mage aoe gold farming 101 (with videos and pics)

The biggest advantage as a mage at 70 is the ability to aoe grind. Atleast in my opinion . Its mostly faster than normal grinding (or atleast just as fast), and much more fun.

This is doable as both frost and fire, but its much easier as frost since it gives a bigger margin for errors due to ice barrier, shatter, iceblock, pet, etc. I reccomend doing it in pvp gear for same reason. Though its doable with crappy gear aswell.



Farming primal fires in Blades Edge Mountains:

The mobs:

Searing elementals

Loot:

Mote of fire. 1-2 per mob

Alot of vendor trash

Essence of fire (vendor trash)

Greenies


Place:




Route:

First pull:



Second pull:



Third pull:



How:

- Buff Dampen magic, Fire ward and ice barrier(if you got it) before each pull.

- Use ice lance to pull the mobs while running.

- Spam rank 1 arcane explosion to keep the mobs aggroed so they done evade

- When you reach your aoe position cast Frost nova. Then Cone of cold, and then try to stay out of melee range while spamming arcane explosion. Loot and fly to next spot. Easy.

Farming scryer rep items in SMV:

Sunfury mobs

Loot:

Sunfury signets

Arcane tomes

Netherweave cloth. Lots of it

Super healing and mana pots.

Vendor trash

Decent ammount of greenies

How:

- Buff Ice Barrier(if you got it) before each pull.

- Mount up and pull the mobs while mounted. Use ice lance to pull the last mobs if needed.

- Spam rank 1 arcane explosion to keep the mobs aggroed so they done evade till you get them garthered up.

- When you reach your aoe position cast Frost nova. Then Cone of cold, and then try to stay out of melee range while spamming arcane explosion. Loot and fly to next spot. Easy.

- Sometimes the mobs will cast spellbreaker . This debuff lowers your magic dmg done by 75%. When this happen just try to nova the mobs and dont do any dmg til the debuff is gone. Just stay out of melee range and save your mana. The debuff only lasts a few seconds.

Farming consortium rep guys in netherstorm

This route is ideal for consortium rep and a shitload of netherweave. You get ALOT of consortium erp

The mobs:

Zaxxis Raiders

Loot:

Lots and lots of netherweave

Zaxxis insignia - Used for consortium rep

Ethereum prison key - Used for rep or for summoning elite bosses that drop blue items.

Greys

Greens

Even though these spots are doable with all specs, if you want a specific aoe grinding spec i would recomend something like this:

Ofcourse the better the gear the easier you can pull more mobs. But if you dont get any resists then the mote of fire place is easy even with green gear. And if you get resists then i reccomend using pet nova or cold snap.

And that spec is great for aoe and battleground pvp. Though i wouldnt use it for arena .
