I just got over 100 two digit names without special character.
pro tip. Gmail doesnt idtentify "." in their character system.

so... [email protected] will get emails directed tooo [email protected] or [email protected]

And for those who don't know that about gmail, that's some good info. The same also works with plus signs:

I never thought about names in other languages, but I don't play EU so it didn't cross my mind.

That'd be something for others to look into as well if you play on EU.

This is a nice guide, i know before patch the way i did it was by phone calls to blizz asking for it, i managed to snatch a few good ones, spirit, snowman, death, dark, john, richard, morris, eric, netting me a bit over 300k + (Keept some of them) nice post mate !

Odd.

Though I do play US so the rules may vary, but the GM I spoke to said it wasn't against the rules but not supported either, essentially in the same vein as the link in the post above me.

Couldn't find anything in Eula or tos either before I started doing this, so I daresay some butthurt kid reported you and an inexperienced GM handled the case. I've been reported more times than I can count and nothing has happened to me.

i'd probably follow up with them asking for clarification on which rule was broken, link the thread above saying it's alright.

Open a ticket on your main account -> In-game issue -> other in-game issue.

Paste the email, paste link to the thread, say you've read EULA and ToS and nothing forbids it, while one GM publically says it isn't wrong.

Ask what part of the EULA/ToS was broken specifically.
