    Insane Dot Damage (Warlock)

    Hey guys,

    on bosses with adds you can use this little trick to do insane damage. you have to be specced affliction and cannot have the "soul swap" glyph.

    so on the start of the pull you have to get as many buffs and proccs as possible, so that your dots are very strong.

    the best results can be achieved when you have all of the following buffs and proccs running at the same time:

    * bloodlust / heroism
    * potion of the jade serpent
    * meta gem procc
    * all trinket proccs + jade serpent enchant
    * tricks of the trade from a rogue
    * dark soul
    * berserking / blood fury (racials)
    * engineering gloves / tailoring procc
    * unerring vision of lei shen trinket procc for 100% more crit

    when all of these are running at the same time, do a soulswap: soulburn on the boss. this applies all three dots (agony, corruption and unstable affliction) and they're going to be really strong, since buffed by all the proccs mentioned above.

    now what you have to do is: once UA is close to falling off (it has the shortest duration, so it'll always be this dot you have to watchout for) you inhale the dots off the boss with soul swap, exhale them onto an add in the fight (that's why it only works on bosses with adds up), inhale them off of the add again and reapply them onto the boss. All three dots will still have their full power (from the beginning of the fight) but will have a new, full duration!

    on some bosses, this can be used until the boss is dead, meaning you will have these insanely buffed dots throughout the whole fight.

    encounters in MoP which this works very well on:

    Mogu'Shan Vaults:

    Stone Guards -> Swap the dots amongst the 3 dogs
    Elegon -> Swap the dots to the add spawning in phase 1 and then onto the small adds in the transition and onto the pillars afterwards
    Will of the Emperor -> Lots of adds to do this with

    Heart of Fear:

    Garalon -> Get a full power set of dots up on the boss on pull, then swap onto the legs
    Wind Lord Mel'Jarak -> Lots of adds there in the beginning, which can be used for this. Only works in p1 of the fight
    AmberShaper Un'Sok -> Swap them onto the mindcontroller players and then back onto the boss

    Terrace of Endless Springs:

    Protectors of the Endless: Swap them among the 3 bosses

    Throne of Thunder

    Horridon -> Lots of adds available for this
    Council of Elders -> Get up 2 sets of dots with full power, then always swap them amongst the bosses
    Tortos (heroic) -> Full set of dots at the beginning, then swap them onto the pillars or turtles
    Megaera -> Swap between heads
    Primordius -> Swap them between adds
    Dark Animus -> Lots of adds
    Ra-Den -> Get a set of full power dots at the beginning, then swap them onto the orbs / adds and then back onto the boss. Works like a charm on this fight

    Have fun trying this, it's really good probably gonna get fixed quite soon, but as long as it's still possible it's pretty nice

    this sounds like a guide not an exploit for good dmg.

    Its both. A guide for how to do excellent dmg by exploiting a bug. Best of both worlds!

    This is an intended game mechanic. You're losing the ability to apply dots to multiple targets instantly with the glyph so that you can trade and extend your buffed damage dots. It's probably much better for you AND your raid on fights with adds if you actually multi-dot properly... The idea of extending "buffed" dots is not something new, and it's certainly not an exploit. For example, Unholy DKs can utilize a playstyle commonly referred to as "festerblight" which has you apply your dots once with all trinkets, buffs, and potions up and then your main responsibility is ensuring that you will have the runes to hit Festering Strike in time to extend their duration before they fall off. The tactic is interesting because it allows you to do massive damage through your diseases, but it can be very devastating to your DPS if you aren't careful and you accidentally let the dots fall off. The same could be said for your idea... If you inhale the dots off the boss, exhale them onto an add, and the add gets destroyed before you inhale them back... you lose your buffed dots and you lose all the GCDs you sacrificed to keep the touchy Soul Swap dance going just to have to reapply them like normal anyway.

    With all that being said, I wanted to edit my post to clarify that I'm not trying to put you down. I just think this is more appropriately deemed as a guide rather than placed in the exploit forums. This could be very helpful to up and coming warlocks since it's a tactic used by some of the top affliction locks in the world that are trying to rank high on DPS for certain fights (Council of Elders is the craziest one, specifically...). Thanks, good info, but request that the thread be moved to guides imo.

    Soulswapping empowered dots will applay empowered dots of full duration on the new target. Its not a bug tough some people might not have known this.

    Definitely should be moved to guides. Not an exploit at all. Otherwise, good guide!

    Proof please. This is a good guide indeed, and it sounds like it's intended. /request a move.

    It's 100% intended. Soul swap "inhales" the dots in whatever state they were in, then puts them on a new target with full time. It's exploiting an intended mechanic, but it is not a bug.

    Also OP you're missing Kafa Press - Item - World of Warcraft

    My guild downed heroic Megara easy with this bug, I don't have a video or pictures, just ask any warlock (or hop on your warlock alt if you don't believe). I'm surprised blizz hasn't fixed this yet as doing 300k dps isn't intended and I don't think it should be considered a guide for that reason. And now, that's not 300k burst, that's 300k over the whole fight.
