Mage
Talent Specialisation
If you are not in a raiding guild and raiding MC you will be able to specialize in Fire/Arcane which is the best for soloing and grouping.
What to do
• Always keep Arcane Intellect up on all group members that cast spells
• Always keep up your mana regen shield.
• Your most important role is to nuke for damage, a few tips:
1. Assist before you nuke
2. In normal situations always try to use Scorch until you get Clearcasting, if you have this you can use a mana free Arcane Missiles or Blizzard.
3. In tough situations if you want things to die fast you can unload Fire Balls in combination with Fire Blasts
4. Always at the begining of a pull take your time and let the warrior a few seconds to get aggro, same goes when a mob is attacking you or another party member, give the warrior time to get aggro
5. If you pull aggro, stop nuking and cast Mana Shield on yourself.
6. If there is a lot of mobs (no hard hitting elite ones though) you might want to AE damage these, this is one of the distinctive features of a mage. Best for AE is Blast Wave followed by Arcane Explosion (with talent points it has zero seconds cast time) until mobs are dead.
• Try to always have conjured drinks for inbetween pulls, also offer your group members conjured food/drinks.
• If your group gets Humanoid adds, make sure to sheep those, keep in mind that sheep's duration decreases, the more often it's casted, so try to time the recasts well. Don't let the mobs break out of sheep though, if the warriors can't taunt (cause he is focused on other targets), you will get damaged severely.
• Don't forget, and really don't (because I know a lot of mages do) that you CAN remove curses. This can be VERY important in some situations.
• Try to summon yourself mana stones so you have those ready for difficult situations.
Equipment Choice
Best stats for a mage are int/+spell crit/+damage/sta/spi... in this order.
