According to the submissions on wowhead the drop chance for Schnottz Infantryman - NPC - World of Warcraft is about 50% and drops 1-3 embersilk.
They walk in packs of 9. That means with good luck you can get 27 embersilk per pack or with horrible luck you could get very few.
In addition to this you also kill Schnottz Elite Infantryman - NPC - World of Warcraft which has about a 50% chance to drop 1-6 embersilk.
This method may have been hot-fixed but if it hasn't then this a viable method and the OP deserves credit.

Are you a tailor with the increased cloth drop by any chance?

Edit: i just ran this for an hour, with treasure flask, we got 150 cloth, 4 greens, a green jc recipe and a bunch of greys.

    This must have been hotfixed?

Yes my friend has tailoring, i have heard of Northern cloth scavenging to be bugging in cataclysm(tailors get more embersilk cloth loot) and my friend did all the looting at the time because he had The potion of treasure finding.

It might be so that you need to be a tailor. if this is true, it kinda sucks but i dont know how fast you are killing those packs. We killed all packs in stairs (total of 8 packs i belive) in about 6min. you need to be this fast to get some worthy loot

Meh I went there as a mage today and kept pulling all of them with flame strike over 100 mobs at once, kited them passed the stairs and got loot bugged every single time. :/. This would be a great spot if loot wouldn't bug on massive pulls.

    Probably these:

Jaspertip Swarmer - NPC - World of Warcraft

With tailoring cloth scavaging, potion of treasure finding and no downtime as a frost mage, i get around 420-450 cloth pr hour, some volatiles from the chests, 8-12 greens, loads of grey item and other stuff. But this is allready has a 2-3page thread around here somewhere

lol, 100 mobs at once=no aoe damage.. hahahahahahaha good one. 100+ mobs is 11 of the groups minimum, they dont run that far away from spawnpoint.

Uhm I kited them all the way past the nearest town. Maybe there is a difference in servers. Maybe I should record a video and show you? Would you like to see it?

    Let me know.

" Ok maybe its closer to 80 mobs. "

Am uploading to xfire right now. This would be an amazing spot for mages if there was no loot lag. The official mob count I was able to pull was 64 mobs even with evades. I threw down a RoF and got them separated if I didn't do that the count would have been 80.

If anyone has a solution for the loot lag or if anyone knows more aoe spots like this let me know. I heard this aoe spot was actually nerfed but I was never here before I heard it was nerfed so I can't confirm this.

Uldum Aoe + loot lag. - Xfire Video here is the video I am contributing.

    Jaspertip Swarmers in Deepholm.

Also, pop a tresure finding flask and kill the bats as well, I average 400+ an hour with the pot up.

    I am a shadowpriest btw

This is not a bug, this is intentionally working correctly, and giving tailors more cloth. Quite easily verified in any instance group. Your groupmates loot their npcs, then the tailor can loot cloth from the bodies.
