[IDEA] Free character namechange?

Sorry if this is a repost, I searched but didn't find anything similar
Also, this is my first thread here so don't be too cruel =D

You will need two accounts for this (you can borrow a friend's)

Heres my idea: Let's say you have a character that you want to change your name on, but can't afford the cost or just cba paying it or whatever. Log off to the character screen and delete the character. Yeah. Then log on to another account, and create a character with the same name as the one you just deleted. (you might want to change ip before doing that, I don't know.) Next day, log on to your first account and go on an alt, and create a GM Ticket: make up a story about how you deleted your character in rage for some reason, and ask to get it restored (I've had friends that did this and got their chars back).
So if the GM tries to restore your character, woot there's another char with that name now = you get to choose a new name?

Ok,
1) way too much risk if it is a high end character and GM doesn't believe you
2) Make sure that this friend is not on ur f list or at least remove them for a while and then do it. Cuz it will obviously be suspicious
3) Nice idea if it works for multiple people ill give it a try lol

by the way, blizzard europe has new internal rule that disallows game masters to perform free namechanges like this. If GM sticks to this rule, he'll make from Esko something like Eskko if the original name is taken... I tried this 2 times few days after WotLk hit live servers and in both cases it happed the situation that I described above... blizard is not stupid and won't make give you free namechange when they see lvl1 character who took your name...

or you could just have someone report your name and BAM. new name, i have done it that way a couple times. Be warned though, after the 3rd report they choose a gay name for you.

nah this doesnt work, yes you do get a new name BUT its with a letter changed or another letter added.

this is the same as when you delete your character, log back on in afew weeks and soemone has made a character and you want your old character back, you have to choose a new name but can only modify it by 1 character (letter.

for example
berny would be changed to bernyy

This could work but it takes a while.

I got my free name change by making a character on the realm I was xferring to with the same name that I had ;p

It works. Just tell them GM you meant to delete an old alt and accidentally deleted your main.

I'de highly suggest creating the other toon on a different IP though.

it doesnt work though, back pre tbc when i was playing some hacker got my acc + pass and he deleted my character, my friend found out and cause he was a smartass x dickhead he friggen made a character with the same name on purpose! I got my character back and my friends character got flagged for a rename
