[Private Server] Trade scam, probably done like a million times with cheat engine

I'm new to this site, so I'm guessing everyones seen/tried this one before.

The scam is to trade your gold to someone for an item or whatever, but you look like your giving 1000 GOLD or somethin' on similar amount....but your not.
Your giving like 4 silver or something, and this isn't one of them 'suddenly change the amount at the box' scams, this looks very VERY genuine. That is until the other person looks in their inventory and sees they havnt received any good gold.

Open up cheat engine, target WoW.exe then search for the value of your gold. Obviously make sure you have a small amount, so send all your gold to an alt character but have like 1 silver. Since cheat engine searches up a slightly different database then WPE pro, you have to search for the exact amount of gold in COPPER. So 1 silver = 100 copper, so if you had 1 silver, search 100.

This is more recommended with a more unique amount. Because if you were to search 100, like a thousand results would appear, so we wanna keep it more simple. So say we have 1 gold and 67 silver. That's 16700 copper, so search 16700. Copy, then change all the values of the copper to 99999999. Once locked, when you look into the inventory on your character, it should say 9999 gold and 99 silver, 99 copper. THIS ISN'T CORRECT, you've only edited the packet and not actually created gold : { .

When you trade with someone, the 9999 gold WILL BE accepted and the trade itself will look believable. But this will trade all your gold you have and leave you with 0 copper, but when the person looks in their inventory theyll see that they've barely gotten anythin XD.

I did this countless times. And it worked all the time, but for LFG channels and auctions, I don't think they will. The person to person trade is a must in this scam.

Anyways on a side-note, I've had enough of scams. It's not very nice, but then again, probably the people selling very easy to find epics for mad prices are the scammers....

besides the fact that cheatengine is a red flag in WoW, my currency amount is instantly converted back to what i have in my inventory when I put it in trade.

It is client sided, but I think the real exploit is the fact it works on trades. It should say you don't have enough money or something like that if you input the amount you do not have, but if it recognises you have that much gold, it allows it in trades.

By the way, I tried this on auction, AND IT DOES NOT WORK : [[[[[. You'll get as far as pressing buyout, but nothing will happen. The button will go grey and that's it, no fake bid accepted. I'd say just contact the auction seller and say you want to buy it off him personally 'because your auctioning doesn't seem to work' or something close to that.

OK I've tried print screening this evidence to the best of my ability using my friends account (because I can't let you see my real h4xor character xD) so I hope this helps in understanding how to get it to work. If it really doesn't seem to work at all, it might be the patch number or the server, because this works all the time on wowlegion, wowscape, wowcentral and wowsexy.

That's good enough evidence for me to not ask anyone to try hehe. I will only focus on h4xing private servers for now, and I think most people should as well (if they're attempting to literally HACK into the Blizzard database etc).

Thats what i was thinking too, it would be easier than using cheat engine all the time.
Anyway, i renamed the title (it now says private server scam).

what would be the point of hacks for private servers. you can just make your own server and have anything you want.
