SCAM
Forums
*Try to make a friendly name that will make your victim think that you are legit.
Names like wowaccountbuy, wowaccountseller, or ibuyaccounts are not good names. These names just tell the victim that you buy a lot of World of Warcraft accounts. Therefore, you might be a scammer, or a Chinese farmer who is trying to buy the victims account. Create names with a year at the end such as 1986. This might fool the victim about your age and they might not consider you as a scammer. I usually think of a random last name, and add a year to the end of it (Davis1986).
*Create a couple of posts on the forum. You don’t want to have a post count of 0 and start trading with people. They will not believe you, and most likely stop talking to you, or block you.
*When searching for a victim, look for someone with no reputation, and a low post count. People with reputation will want you to do everything first which might interfere with your scam.
People with no reputation, and a low post count, are on the same level as you.
*Before messaging the victim, try doing a background check. This means, go through their posts and threads. Check to see if they make helpful posts, or useless ones. You don’t want someone who is a waste of your time. You want a person who is serious about the trade.
*When you think you have found your victim, go ahead and go to the next section of this guide.
Messenger
*Most people use AIM and MSN to do trading. Make a screen name that is the same as your forum name.
*Make a fake identity. Just use myspace to come up with some ideas.
*Edit your PROFILE! Type in information that will make the victim think that you are a real person, and not a scammer. If you want, you can even throw in a myspace page. They will probably go to it to check out your picture and real information.
*Open up your preferences and change your font, size, and color. This will make it look like you had your screen name for a while, and didn’t just create it to scam with.
*Prepare yourself! Open up a notepad and plan out the conversation you might be having with the person. If you are doing a trade, prepare your Armory links, and information about the character. The more information you give the victim, the better.
Conversation
*Start off with a warm greeting.
*Tell them what forum you are from, and the username.
*Use proper grammar and punctuation! Avoid this makes lowers your chance of scamming that person!
You want to sound like you are older, went through high school, and possibly in college now.
*Don’t respond to every question right away. Wait 3 minutes before you respond to them. Try to make it seem as if you are not really interested in the account, and you are not rushing them.
*Try to start up a conversation other than trading. Ask them experiences that they had on World of Warcraft, or people talk about different things such as school, sports, or other activities.
*Do not rush! If you rush they will avoid you and speak with someone else.
*If you really want the account, you can delay the trading by telling your victim that you have to
think about it. Tell him that you have different offers which you have to think about first.
*Ask them for their e-mail! I tell people that I will message them from work, and I can’t use instant messengers, or things of that nature. Tell them that you MIGHT e-mail them from work. This will increase your chances of getting the account. How? If the trade fails, you will have another option by sending them an e-mail to your PHISH site, or maybe a fake Blizzard e-mail asking them to confirm their information.
*If you choose to do the above step, tell them about the dangers of how Blizzard searches through the forums to find account traders and close down the accounts. Make sure to include how your 2 accounts were closed down a couple of days ago for trading with someone. Tell them this BEFORE you ask for the e-mail. They might find something suspicious and give you a fake e-mail, or tell you to get a life.
Phone Conversation
*Somewhere in the conversation ask them for their phone number.
That way when they ask to speak over the phone you will have another option.
*If they ask to speak over the phone, go download Skype, or InternetCalls, and call them. That way they will not be able to see your phone number. If they ask you for it, tell them you do not want to give it away for security reasons.
*Remain calm on the phones! I use a deep voice.
