Just have received such a case
No more temp bans?
And how to figure out what has caused it?

Does the email say "exploitation of economy" or "unauthorised third-party software"? Economy bans are always permanent, third-party bans are mostly permanent with the exception of big banwaves. Before May 2015, getting a suspension instead of a permaban was as common as seeing two unicorns ****ing in broad daylight.
Action: Closure - World of Warcraft License
Violation: Use of illegal third party software
Blizzard perm-ban on sight for like a year.
If you are permbanned, just appeal saying that you don't understand, they'll unban you rather quickly.
If you try to get unbanned though bullshit (brother, hacked) etc... They'll keep the ban forever.
Play dumb, like a real player would if they were innocent.=> insta unban
PS: Don't even use the word "banned", use what they sent you in the mail, word to word.
"Hello, I received a mail saying that my account is now closed due to third party software, I deleted thinking of this as a fishing attempt, but then I couldn't connect to my account, what is happening ?"
(all stress out dumb innocent) Mix-up at your own "sauce" tho.
Yeah it seems like blizzard is way more strict with bans now. They banned one of my accounts for 6 months because using Tmorph with reason they put on was Cheating. Even though I tried to appeal they don't give a damn they just won't revoke it they say it's just against rules. :|
Hate to break it to you, but even this has stopped working.
Also, you're not entirely correct...
The only time you get a permaban, is if you're banned outside of a banwave.
If you're banned as part of a banwave, it's a temp ban, for 6/12/18 months.
If you're smart, you can also get an account closure reduced to a temporary ban...
Trust me, I've had many many run-ins with Blizz regarding bans over the past 18 months...
Playing ignorant only goes so far.

Yes, I used wrobot, but wrobot is not detected. So it could have only been the one time I have used AutoIt with a macro for obliterating health potions. Ended up on the second day, just for a few hours, with what.. 250+ obliterum? Easy. And this due to crafting unimaginable many health potions with 3 of my toons having alchemy and one stood the entire day in Dalaran, obliterating. I have no idea if AutoIt can be detected. Lateron I then crafted thousands of Prolongued Power potions with all of the 3 bot toons and their 600+ sargeras on each and more and sent them all to my main, the guy with all the obliteration. I didnt even get to sending them to my AH-toon and was banned. And the account with the millions of gold from last months farming was also banned. Blizzard checks every transaction.
All of this could have been the case, the crafting, the mass-mailing, but "real" 3rd party was only AutoIt, which cant really be detected only if they monitor how often someone performs an action, for a longer period of time. and wrobot. wrobot wasn't the thing.
amazing how I all felt this before it happened, constant thoughts that day of "you will have it and then they will take it away." and it's +1 to my hightened senses and to go less through situations when I already know they will then tangibly cumulate and you really feel that something is about to happen that will break the flow of which you are on. The tricky part is just figuring out when to stop. Because when you "have", why would you stop, right? "Lets go!" well, there I am once again too efficient for Blizzard and they dont like it. I know many other players who got crafty and companies just dont like it when make your riches too fast. Which is then +1 again for me working less and less with other human beings, why care when I constantly get limited in my creativity everywhere I stand.
Oh and yes, the ban was a suspension. The wording was just not correct. In the launcher it says perma and on the website aswell. In the email or where I found it, there is the suspension and the 6 months.
I am done with this, gl with your chains. Dont stress out and break em or argue that they are too heavy, just slight ride out and drop em, really easy no effort bye
