How to safely play a bought account?

Just wondering how I can safely play an account I bought from someone on here. He lives in the USA and I live in Australia.

Should I use a VPN that connects to the US?
If no to VPNs, would it be safe to play the account on my own, local IP once a day or two has passed?
Is this whole exercise a futile one? (I hope not)

I bought this account fairly, thanks to my friend. I'd like to get my money's worth and use it for as long as WoW is online.

When you have received his account, and changed it's e- mail/ username the account is officially yours, but not legally.

Your account's place of residence, name and year of birth is editable.

It does not matter if you use VPN or not, regarding the safety between you and the seller.

Meaning if you fear the account could be taken back. Which it always can. The first owner can take it back endlessly, if he chooses to.

The account in question got caught in the banwave. I asked the original for help in getting back, but even if he is successful, I know he could just take it and leave me hanging.

I'm just getting sick of levelling a new character already. Even with heirlooms it is a long process. And then I have to redo everything to get back to owning a 715 ring. If I could get into Normal+ runs I'd be able to get the T17 Hunter 4pc. I could play a tank and get fast queues for LFR, but I think tanks would be difficult to play now without a reliable routine-automater like Honorbuddy.

Which is why (and also because tanking is stressful for me) I'm rolling as a DPS. Perhaps I reach where I was pre-ban between now and when the suspension is lifted in November??

Alternatively I could buy another account like the one I had purchased.

Pros: I'd be right back where I want to be as far as game progress is concerned.
Cons: I'd have spent money once again, it may be susceptible to suspension/banning, and I'd have to transfer it to an AUS realm eventually (which may cause a weird lag issue like it did last time).
