In short:
Do stage 1 and 2, log out and start at 1 again

Just inv 5peoples in "party" and everyone who hit mobs, you will get exp. Don't create raid. Thats all!
So if you inv someone, you can AFK.

I recommend doing stage three as well. Tons of exp from the skulls in that stage and there are four to five skulls to kill.

Stage 3 is a huge drop in efficiency even with epic flying.

I farm all the legion structures during stage 3 and it nets some pretty good exp. If you have the gear or a tank/healer you can grab most of the mobs by the sites and cleave them down pretty quick.

Before people started doing this resetting nonsense stage 3-4 was vastly more efficient, but now without the people it takes too long to bother. I used to be able to do all six full invasions in the two hour window. The stage 3 bosses give more experience, and there are several of them. Even without a flying mount you can still easily reach a few of them in the timeframe, and this is all in addition to the experience you get from doing stage 1-2. By doing the full invasions in each zone you'd also get the additional stage reward experience and legion chests for gear/money.

were you in one of the invasion vehicles like the demolisher or seige engine at all? some of the vehicles if your in them and try any kind of reset youll come back at stage 2 or 3
have to exit the vehicle to reset back to stage 1

The ONLY place I found stage 3 is ok to do, is Westfall, due to the tight clustering of big bosses, and only good lvl 60+ once you have flying. Any other zone, just do phase 1-2 and relog. You can net about 15+ levels per hour. With westfall it is still almost better to just relog after 1-2 as well, however, to lessen your boredom I found doing stage 3, at least til you get back to where the 2 elites pop at Sentinel Hill (around 70%), and you finish them off. Then reset.

Really? I always get a ton of exp from the four or five skulls killed during that stage.

Yeah I was doing Westfall specifically for this reason.
