This'll probably wont be the first post but I though I might give it a try
This guide is used to obtain Display IDs of certain objects that are not yet in the Database
Requirements:
- My warcraft Studio
- WoW model viewer
- Your own server or a private server with access to the DB (Duh ._.)
Filebeam - Beam up that File Scottie!
(Password is "MMOwned")
So first of all. Open up WoW Model viewer.
It'll look something like this
Go to the "world" tab.
Then. It depends on what you're looking for. e.g:
If you're looking for a specific object in northrend/Grizzly Hills. You should click:"World --> WMO --> Northrend --> Grizzly Hills"
Like this:
Or you can browse by clickin in the searchbox now we're going to search for
"Lavaman"
Then we select "icecrown_lavaman_sit.m2"
Like this:
Once we've selected what we want. Write down or remember the name Or just keep WoW Model Viewer open.
Then we open up MyWarcraftStudio.
And we open our MPQ file.
Like this:
NOTE: Since Bolvar is released in the latest PATCH.MPQ (wich is PATCH-enGB-3.mpq) we'll have to open that. For objects released earlier you must take another patch.
Patches used:
locale-enGB
patch-enGB
patch-enGB-2
patch-enGB-3
So once it is opened. Browse to your WoW folder (Standard: /program files/world of warcraft/
And go to: Data/enGB/enUS
and open patch-enGB-3
Like this:
Once opened.
Go to DBFilesClient and locate GameObjectDisplayInfp.dbc
Once there. Type in the name you remembered/wrote down/or whatever other method you've used
In this case: Icecrown_lavaman_sit.m2 and type it in the search box
Like this:
The number you see infront of the found entry is the display ID. Write it down/rember it/ or whatever makes you remember it
There we're done. I'm not going to say how to create the objects, There are plenty of guides out there.
If you need help, Or have any questions. I'll try to be as clear as possible. If you want something to be added just post it.
NOTE: NOT ALL ITEMS CAN BE FOUND WITH MYWARCRAFTSTUDIO!
