Need information on getting a machine for my wow server!

Alright so WoWMafia gets really laggy sometimes and I need a new computer, I will later upgrade my line to a t1 connection.

I want a computer with the following:

2gb Ram DDR2
SATA Hard drive over 50gb
Battery to make my comp last 24/7
Xeon Quad Core Processor 3.0GHZ
Cheap Graphics Card
2-3 USB slots
DVD/CD Burner


What would be the price range for a computer like this? A local store offered to built me one custom made for around 2000$.

I've been also looking at servers with Xeon processors, in the 1800$ price range, how are servers different from computers? They seem to be a little less cheaper than computers.

Is it like a computer but just shaped differently? Can Windows xp be installed on them?

What is the difference between a server and a desktop computer?

Ive built a computer with those exact specs, it all cost $1114. On retail I'd say it might be $1500 if you get a business that makes custom PCs.

Servers have better Internet upload speeds than desktops. Servers are designed to be on 24/7 but desktops are not. Desktops can have more hard drive, But I don't think your going to download WoW on a server. Some servers can have very nice cooling systems (which if your going to have a big server you should have a nice cooling system) Desktops have cooling systems but if you want a nice one they are on gaming computers and thos cost 2,000-5,000 range.

The run down of all this is that servers are more dedicated to internet speeds and to be able to run many processes at once. Desktops on the other hand are more dedicated to just the normal stuff, word, paint, internet, downloading files, games etc. My advice is to get a server, after all the program ascent was made to run on servers.

Get Microsoft Windows Vista Business or look on google for a server OS. I saw one on the internet for a server but the price for it was $400$
