    WoW network protocol

    Hello.

Does anyone have any well documented info on the world of warcraft network protocol? Im interested in writing my own sandbox for learning purposes. Now usually I would just go and look over some mangos code and get my questions answered but that wouldnt be learning would it?

Specifically I am interested in packet analysis and deciphering WoW's network packet structure. I have great knowledge of winsock and win api.

Now i could sit and attempt to decode all of them but I have other projects that take up my time as well and I am going to do this as a hobby.

    Thanks.

Look at how other cores accept connections and such in the login server. If you COPY AND PASTE then it's not that helpful if you want to learn it. What you need to do is look at how they do it and type it all out.

There's no such document afaik, last time when i saw smth like this i saw it on emupedia wiki, but it was kinda outdated these times, so the best thing to start learing is really looking at arcemu/trinity sources.

I started a wiki entry Packets - WoW.Dev Wiki but it's from ~3.0.9 and therefore, you might update it after you found everything in the sources.

Do you use some packet analyzer to view the packets? I would also like to see how it works.
