[Diary] [OB] [Guide] Paladin 1-50 (done!)

I'm a newb at botting, started 3 days ago, but I guess there's more like me
out there, so someone might find some use for this. It's a Blood Elf paladin,
I might add, so he started out in the Belf starting area. I've done 0 levelling
by hand as I wanted to learn as much as possible. I put 10 points in holy
to begin with for my paladin, to get less interrupted while healing, I
suspect you'd get higher XP rate as a full retadin but I found the talent
very useful for my bot. Will add a few maps for you lazy ****ers
And remember, before you start.. get 4 x 16-slot bags for your toon.
It will save you a lot of time and grief.

Note: I don't claim that these are the best grinding spots ever, it's just
where I levelled with my paladin and I found it OK.

    1-13: Eversong Woods

Not much to say about this really. You only need a very small spot
to grind 1-4 on as the mana wyrms respawn immediately as they
die (almost). There's a 4-man patrol in the Dead Scar, which would
otherwise be a pretty good levelling spot. West Sanctum for non-skinners
8-10 as you get more XP there than across the river. The treants in the
scorched grove gives good XP, it's a nice area where I didn't die a single time.

    13-23: Ghostlands

13-16: As a skinner, east of Sanctum of the Sun is a great spot with a lot
of bats and cats. You'll also end up with a lot of meat, if you're interested
    in cooking.

16-20: On the eastern side of Dead Scar (a bit south of Tranquillien), you'll
find more bats and cats but they're higher level. Great spot for skinners.
About 8500xp/hr. Stay away from Dead Scar; not only are there two fat
elites patrolling the area - the mobs can silence you and puts a debuff on
you that slows your casting speed by 50%.

20-23: Deatholme, rediculously good farming spot. Died maybe 5 times
during the entire stay, 14000xp/hr. I bought a polearm for quicker grinding,
Gargoyle's Bite, really helped a lot. They're all undeads and you'll get
Exorcism around these levels, which is awesome.

    23-28: Hillsbrad.
    About 15,000xp/hour.

I like Hillsbrad as long as it's not too crowded. I didn't die a single time
during these levels. Stay away from Yetis and alliance guards. Lots of skins
and meats, you'll be killing cats, spiders and bears.

    29-38: Thousand Needles
    P
lease note that I made a mistake with this map; the repair is in Freewind Post, the one marked on the map is only a drink vendor.

    29-32:
High Perch. Water vendor is really close, only died once during
these levels. Pretty sweet XP on this spot, about 16,000xp per hour.
Skinners' heaven, too. I had skinning but dropped it as it took too much
time to skin all the mobs, for my taste. I recommend setting your HS
in Freewind Post for when you need to repair. I had to remap this area
three times as the map disappeared for some reason. Remember to set
your map to "read-only" when you think you have a good map, or make
a folder called "bak" in your map folder, and the press "backup zone" to
save a copy of your current map in that folder.

32-34: There's no repair vendor in Shimmering Flats, but you shouldn't
need it. Just make sure you repair before you go there. I didn't die a single
time here, pretty solid XP as well; about 15,000xp/hour. Feel free to pick
up some quests at the vendor spot, you'll automatically complete 4 of
    them while grinding these mobs.

34-38: Crocolisks, crocolisks and more crocolisks. Make sure you're doing
your mapping properly here, as there is a lot of fences to get stuck at if
you're being lazy. About 18,000xp per hour, I didn't die here at all and
it's pretty close to the vendor as well. Nice spot if you're good at mapping.
I stayed here till level 39 because the drops were so good (got 50g from
it in total during these levels), which gave me enough to get a level 40
mount for the other little bot I have. Got about 15,000xp per level that
    last level.

    38-45: Stranglethorn Vale

This went pretty smooth, got about 17,000xp on 38 and 20,000xp on 45,
per hour. Gorillas, cats and crocolisks in the first spot, and raptors in the
next. There's also a good 40-45 spot just NE of Booty Bay with white
gorillas, but it's usually pretty crowded so it's only viable if you're botting
night time as a rule of thumb. As most of my other grinding spots, you'll
get tons and tons of meat that you can cook. The vendor is really close
and the areas mostly flat, so no excessive mapping is needed.

    45-50: Feralas

The yeti cave, about 20,000xp per hour. Graveyard is really close which
is nice, I died about 4 times here. Very easy mapping, not much to get
stuck in either. Don't obsess over the fact that the mobs will be much
lower level than you at level 49; it still yields almost 20,000xp/hour so
    it's worth the stay imo.

I forgot to take any screenies when I was low level, unfortunately. This is
my very first bot, so it was a lot of things to learn at the start, as well as
a lot of re-mapping going on as they disappeared a few times. It took me
8 days (6 days 7 hours /played) to get to 50, my next character took
a whole day shorter to level (at the same spots) which was interesting
to see. I've never levelled normaly in Ghostlands, so a lot of time went to
just exploring the place and trying out different grinding spots. All in all,
it was great fun, and I'm glad I've started botting as it brought a whole
    new kind of fun to the game, I almost feel like when I started playing WoW;
really enjoying it again. I had crap gear through-out the entire levelling,
but I did always have a good weapon, I bought 4 blue weapons on AH
between level 19 and 43, which really helped tons. It's worth the small
amount of gold it costs. (As you can see on the screenshot, I had the
same chest piece from level 24-50 for example, heh).

Hope this guide/diary was helpful for anyone, thanks for reading

Yeah, saves a lot of time mapping really - especially when you notice that the
spot you've just mapped isn't really that great after all, like if it gives bad XP,
you can map a new one in 5 minutes, so it's not a big deal. I started out manually,
but after trying the auto mapper script, I just prefer using it instead.

I map like 20 5 around all the hotspots and in between them 5/5 so the bot has a lot of ways to chose from

Okay, in my diary (With the druid) I just run the path and then let me bot find it's own way. When I'm done with each place I have LOTS of mapping, which is great for future alts. But either way is good. The only bad way is to NOT map :P

Aye, agree, mapping is important if you don't want your bot to look like.. a bot, heh.
With 2.6, I just PPF all the manual paths I'm going, then I turn it off and
auto-map the rest with 20 5 or 50 5 depending on how big the area is. Haven't had
    any problems so far
