    OC Verified Requirement for sellers

A simple and easy change / requirement to put in place to prevent scams.

So I've been selling on OC for a few months now and during that short period of time I've seen so many scammers (mainly Key sellers for games such as WoW, D3, etc) get away with their scams.

Here's what i mean: person A joins OC on a new account > creates a thread about selling D3 Keys > ends up scamming a few people and gets banned.

What happens next is what should be prevented. After a few days / weeks, the same scammer makes a new account using a VPN or whatever other method & does the exact same thing.

I believe Ownedcore should take the same route as other websites such as "Epic-NPC" where you are required to become a Verified member in order to sell anything on their website.

It's pretty simple, to become Verified, you must do the following:

    1. Pay a fee (usually between $10 - $15 & lasts 6-12 months)
    2. Provide a photo-ID (name on the ID must be identical to the one on your PayPal (or any other payment method you are using).
    3. Make a phone verification (code verification)

Now obviously this won't get rid of all scammers and I don't think anything will - but I truly believe this will substantially reduce the amount of people getting scammed by these guys.

Oh and finally, once verified, you get a tag under your avatar "OC Verified"

I've been wanting to post this for a while, and with the amount of people being scammed recently, I decided it's about time to post it here as a suggestion.

There already is an ID Verified option. It is optional. If you get scammed by key sellers, pick people you deal with better.

No. Been discussed before. Making people pay just to sell something is a bad idea. Especially when it doesn't doesn't stop scammers AT ALL.

No matter what we do. There are stupid people out there that fall for the most obvious scams. You can only do so much to prevent it.

There's already an ID verification system in place.

While it's not a requirement to sell, I don't think it should be either. There are plenty of legitimate people who just want to sell a one-off item, and it would be unfair to make them become verified just to sell that.

There's nothing stopping long-term sellers from becoming ID verified to add to their credibility, though.

Googling a sellers Skype name is enough to spot like 70% of scammers. But people just don't do it because they are lazy and get scammed because of it.

There are some people you can't help.

    Edit

    Here's an example.
    http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/mmo-...ml#post3137300

Not saying bubble is dumb. But if he just googled the Skype name. He could have prevented the scam. You can only do so much before the buyer needs to at least put in some effort.

We will never be scam free. 98% of scams at the moment are people buying from new 1post 1rep members because they have some stupid shit like the cheapest prices or something and people don't like paying extra $$ for the security of a safe trade with known legit people.

Funny that you mentioned Docysezhi, I had the opportunity to deal with him a while back, but he was unwilling to add a note to paypal transaction causing me to refund him his money and send him packing.
