I'm playing on the classic anniversary server and used ur rested XP guide a few month ago - no problems, all fine.

Today I wanna use it again, I can't fit in the new guides.

    1. Updated RestedXP via Curseforge to the newest version.
    2. Downloaded the "era" file from page 1
    3. Deleted all files inside the "guides" folder
    4. Unzipped with 7Zip and copied to the "guides" folder
    5. Deleted the savings in WTF folder

    Where is my mistake?

So my post clearly says 1 thing because the Custom guides are an addon.
My post clearly says, Extract to addons.

Why did you not do that and instead delete the free guides?
Or do you commonly take links and not read what to do?

So instead of reading the first post before you took the link.

You did what I would never say to do.

It is an addon, you install it like an addon. Like people have for the past 21 years.

I've been having issues so I wanted to go step by step on what I'm doing so someone can point out where I'm going wrong because I can't seem to see it. I download the guide lua files and the addon manually and I made sure to delete any existing lua files related to RXP, when I'm in game, the addon works but I can seem to find the guide I installed from here.

I have the addon downloaded from CurseForge, the most up to date version which is a .zip, I also have the guide lua files from this thread as a .zip.

I go to my WoW folder, then into _classic_era_ (I'm playing Anniversary Hardcore), I check the first SavedVariables folder immediately in the WTF folder, no RXP.
I go into the Account Folder and check the SavedVariables folder there, no RXP.
I got into the folder with the numbers and check the SavedVariables folder there, no RXP.
I then go into the Soulseeker folder (The Anniversary Hardcore server), I check every single character's folder, no RXP.
So I should not have any SavedVariables, I even checked other servers even though I never used RXP on those characters and there is no RXP lua files at all within this whole section.

I then extract the AddOn manually into my AddOns folder, doing it the exact same way as the video guide that's embedded. (I would do it differently, open the .zip and drag and drop but for the sake of consistency I even followed the video exactly). I haven't had a problem with the AddOn working in game, it works fine and does what it's supposed to do.

I then open Era.rar, go into the HC folder as that's what I'm playing. I'm an Alliance character so I select the "Alliance-20-60.lua" and I extract just that file into the "Guides" folder (D:\Blizzard\World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns\RXPGuides\Guides).

Am I supposed to put that lua file somewhere else so that I can see it in game? Have I done it correctly and just don't know where to find the guide in game?

Help would be grately appreciated and thank you for your continuous work to provide this for us all.

I actually did some digging and found an .xml file that listed the guides on a list. Specifically in D:\Blizzard\World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns\RXPGuides\Guides there was a GuideList-classic.xml I opened it and saw the list of guides and I just manually added the guide I wanted to that list and put the guide.lua in the same folder as the rest of the classic guides and it works completely fine now. This might not be the intended way to do this, but it worked for me.

I said to do one thing and one thing only

    Extract to Addons.
Why do people not do that or see it and do not do it.

I did not say e tract to the guides folder.

Sorry, but why can people not just extract to the Addons folder?

Then you update the addons, the guides are gone.

I said extract to the addons folder. I wonder why people find that so hard to do.

So let me get this right

    The file is an addon
You know it is an addon
It shows it is an addon
You install it like an addon

    That sounds pretty simple.

The 1st post right next to the link clearly says
    Extract to addons

But people then choose, ingore that and take the link.
Realize they do not know how to install it because they just leeched the file and not read.
Choose not to read the post.
Strip out the files, put them in the addon (When in 21 years of addons, have you ever done that to an addon? You say never? So why do it now?)
When I never said to do that.

So if extracting it to the addons folder is so hard to do. (Seems you did that with every other addon)
Then why do you want to use something that is clearly too difficult?
