if dal still had portals people would still spend most of their time there because it had portals to every city plus shatrath

its the same thing as leveling an alt and having your hearth as dalaran.



so yes having mages port you to other cities and areas for quick travel will be very usefull instead of the slow flight paths...

depends on how much you offer your services for...

and the only portals in org and stormwind go to the new areas, not other cities and definitely not shatrath or dal. which makes farming rep for mounts RIDICULUS because it will take a very long time to get to there

You don't need the Portals anymore. If you still have your hearth at Dalaran by the time Cata hits the servers you have class trainers there but most of the people will set their hearths to SW/OG I guess, since you travel from there to the lvling zones. So you can maybe make a bit of money on day 1 when cata hits the servers and clueless people in Dala need a portal, but after that, there won't be much customers for that. Everyone will be busy lvling, no one will be bothering with farming old rep or something like that.

plus no one is saying there wont be portals anywhere new ? cata isnt out yet and not everything is on beta or ptr yet. Dont just throw stuff out there because you arent thinking ahead. Alot can change.

Actually it wont. If you got your HS in orgrimmar its just to take the portal to outland from there and TADA, you actually closer than the shatt portal.

Darn FP -> Tanaris FP = 47.3 minutes + ~18g
Flying in straight line @ 310% speed = 17.6 minutes
Tanaris By Menethil boat - From Darn = 23.1 minutes (no wait time) + ~4g
Tanaris By SW Port, STV Boat - From Darn = 22.4 minutes + ~2.3g + Whatever the portal cost you.

Now say you spend an average of 20g total on moving around with portals and FP's and let's say you do this 3 times a day (because it could quite possibly be 50g portals once per day).

In 84 days not only will you have wasted 7 hours (not including time waiting for portals/boats) you will also have spent ~5k gold. If you had of just bought flying you would save yourself at least 2k gold over an entire year and have saved (not including time waiting for portals/boats) an entire day of productivity. Regardless of the fact that if you had a flying mount in azeroth you would have adjusted your hearhstone and would probably be a lot more mobile.

Realistically with the new zone you would probably only spend 1k gold a year on portals and orobably only waste 4 hours of your life trying to find a mage.

tl;dr

What will actually happen is you will never use portals again and only stay in the new zone because that's where all the end-game content is and get off your lazy ass and buy flying so you don't have to waste money/time on flightpaths.
