Running a Server Wide Quest - How To:

You want this to feel epic! To get the entire server involved!

Simply talk in trade, or to guilds, friends, etc, about how you are starting up a server wide event. Make hype, make it sound cool, and when you want to, start the event! Tell everyone when you start to simply send you a piece of mail with X gold (however much you think is good, I find most people start at 10g or so, and you can increase it with each step). Mail them this message in "Reply":

Subject: The Loot Quest
Body: Ready to start the quest for glory? Part One: The Quest of (Today's date): Random Loot Remix!

Reward: 2 Points. Remember, the top (10 or so, put a number here) questers points by (Day of the week) gets the grand prize of (Your Grand Prize)!

Quest Requirements: Bring (Your Name) A [Broken I.W.I.N Button]! Do you need help? Hint: Where to find them, how to get them: 5g.

After they complete it, write down their names and put one check mark beside it (You're not scamming/ripping anyone off, you're holding an actual player-based quest). The next day, take everyone with a name and a check mark and send them the next quest. Note: You can have them pay per quest or pay per week, anything is fine, really. Keep advertising! If you get enough people this turns into alot of fun for you and for the people playing (And a profit).

You're now your next quest! Send this to everyone who wants to join or has joined, and made it to their second quest. After they send you the money thats required, send them this message in the mail:

Subject: The Drunken Quest
Body: Ready to start the quest for glory? Part Two: The Quest of Drunken Brawlers!
Reward: 2 Points. Remember, the top (10 or so, put a number here) questers points by (Day of the week) gets the grand prize of (Your Grand Prize)!

Quest Requirements: Bring (Your Name) A Volatile Rum! This is a drop and can be bought from a vendor. Hint: Where to find them, how to get them: 5g

Hint: These are sold by Stomper Kreeg and Shely Steelbowels in Icecrown Citadel. They're relatively cheap, and available after Deathbringer Saurfang dies. They also drop in Tanaris by Bloodsail mobs (Southsea and Treasure Hunters) with a high drop chance.

Subject: The Quest of No Return
Body: Ready to start the quest for glory? Part Three: The Quest of No Return!
Reward: 1 Point. Remember, the top (10 or so, put a number here) questers points by (Day of the week) gets the grand prize of (Your Grand Prize)!

Quest Requirements: Bring (Your Name) 10 Hoary Crystals! This is a drop and cannot be bought! Hint: Where to find them, how to get them: 5g

Hint: The absolute easiest way to get them is off most of the mobs in Wintergrasp, but Chilled Elementals have nearly 100% drop rate.

At the end of the week, tally up the total, announce the winners, and don't forget to actually send the winners the amazing grand prize they were playing for. Otherwise this could start getting you into trouble which no one wants.






PS: Don't forget to clear the AH of these quest items (if possible), and if you are really sneaky (although you don't have to) put them up at a decent price before the quest goes up, from an alt (If you don't, someone usually does anyways). People can see who puts them up so make sure your alt is unknown.

Note: Make your grand prize really grand! More people will get involved. Also, don't forget to announce your winners, this gets tons more people questing. These don't have to be daily, just 'regular' so people get used to it. Mail takes 1 hour to arrive, so don't fret if everything isn't instantaneous.

PS: Only give hints AFTER someone sends in the extra 5g.

Note Two: If you need any help, just post in the thread and I'll be on tomorrow. More 'quests' are coming, but the best ones are the ones you make yourself =).

EDIT: This should work about 10 times better on RP servers, for obvious reasons, when compared to other servers. Either way, it's a lot of fun for people who are in the pre-expansion blues' death grip (pun intended =).

And with these quests how are you gonna choose a winner from the 50+ of people who tied at 5 points each?

Cool concept (organizing events for gold etc) but to really get competition you'd need harder "quests" (coughwowheadcough) or some other sort of event (maybe like a hidenseek etc).
