Character Rename trick working ?

Hello,

I was wondering if the common tricks for character rename were working in classic :

#1 - Delete your chacter, have a friend create a character with the same name and then restore your deleted character (To be confirmed but it seems it doesn't work if you re-create the name on your own account, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if another person takes the name, unless names are still reserved until the character restoration is not possible anymore)
#2 - Having massive reports for inappropriate name : Is the GM gonna change it for you or do you have to choose the new nickname ?

Can confirm #1 works but only if on another account.

Did try #1 seconds ago, my friend is unable to create a char with the name of the deleted character, it looks like the name is still reserved somehow

currently trying #2 : So far I had 25-30 reports

The deletion method works to some extent.

I deleted my level 30 Mage and had a friend on a different battle.net (important, you can't create a character on your own second WoW account that is linked to the other) create one with the same name before restoring. It got myself a rename on said level 30.

Then we tried it out the other way around by him deleting his level 60 Mage and me reserving his old name, but the game said the name is not available.

I assume you have to wait for a longer period of time on high or max level characters before you can rename them. Confirmed working up to level 30 though.

deleting and taking the name on another one or your accounts was working within a month ago. I renamed a toon of mine when I noticed i had a spelling mistake and was already into double digits on the toon. Had no issue doing restore then rename. Unfortunately a certain streamer has been talking about this and saying he was going to do this every two weeks, so if theres a change now then you probably have that streamer to thank for it.

Tbs still works in 2021, as I did it then. On the same account as well. Deleted and made on right away with the same name.

Still works but u need to wait 31 days before u can take the name from another account

Why 30 days? Do they hold the mane or something ?
