    [Guide] Hexedition for dummies

I've tryed to search a bit, and couldn't find any guides about hex edition, so I decided to put one together.. Hope you like it

    Tutorial To HexEdit

So...You've finished a game and you have nothing to do? Ever wanted to just mess around in the game like you could in a game like GTA?
Well, you can always HexEdit your gamesaves on the PS3/Xbox 360/PC. Be aware that only some gamesaves can be edited cause of the encryption. Some games left unfinished, like one of my favourites, Borderlands, can be easily edited by anybody.

    So, how to do it?
You'll need a program called HexEdit. You can get it from here:
    HexEdit

You will also be needing a simple calculator to translate decimal values to hex values.
SubnetOnline.com - HEX to BIN to DEC Calculator

Firstly make sure you have an USB or a flash drive or any means to connect your console to your computer.
Be completely sure you have backed up your savegame, we don't want it to corrupt during testing!

    1. Okay, now the harder part. This is pretty simple when you get the hang of it, so just keep trying!
    2. Okay, let's take Borderlands as an example:
    3. Your maximum starting inventory space is "12".
    4. "12" is a decimal value.
    5. Use the calculator, type "12" into the decimal slot, press calculate.
    6. The hex value comes up as a "C".
    7. Open HexEdit and search for "000C" (if you're looking for a two-digit value, use only two zeros. Example: 00FF".
    8. Now that you have found the inventory space value, think of an amount you want to change it to.
    9. Go back to the calculator and insert the amount into the decimal slot.
    10. Let's use "40" as an example.
    11. Calculate it, and the hex value is "28".
    12. Since "28" is a two-digit value, you will have to use only two zeros in the beginning.
    13. Start editing the values via HexEdit, delete "000C", and type "0028" in place.
    14. MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE MODIFYING THE CORRECT VALUE, SOME VALUES MAY BE THE SAME
    15. LEADING TO THE CORRUPTION OF YOUR SAVE GAME!
    16. Save the file and download it back to your console.
    17. Load the savegame and the values should be saved!

There are instances when you may have changed the incorrect value, and your game freezes after loading the savegame.
As mentioned previously, there is also a possibility of your savegame getting corrupted.

Is all that too hard for you? Or does it consume too much time that way? Well, there are some very good savegame editors out there.
A person named XanderChaos from Game-Tuts created the WillowTree for Borderlands. An easy-to-use savegame editor for
Borderlands on all platforms. You can get it from here:
