A better question is, has anybody ever been banned due to this except for abusing it?

Because, if you see at the massive usage of this, I should have known some people who did it.

Heya. To the poster above, the answer is a big Yes.

I've been using MWS since it first came out, three years ago or so. Anyhow, yesterday when I tried to log on I heard this voice keep saying "Intruders Alert" and repeating it. Then I saw a page covering the login-screen which said that "WoWmodeledit" had been detected and that I had to disable it immediately. So I did, and I could log on, then later on came a GM and started talking to me, saying that I had been detected abusing whatever models. All I did was replacing my Blood elf female into an Undead male. However, they gave me a warning and told me never to do it again bla bla. I rebooted and turned on WoWME again, and it didn't work to log on. Then I got a 72-hour ban for abusing world of warcraft ToS or so.

Probably have to wait for next patch and a new WoWME to be released before I can give modelediting another shot :[

Say, given that I'm not gonna boast on general and such about using ME, and that i've replaced scan.dll and scan.dll.new from both wow folder and the 'hidden' wow one under the users folder (yeah, im a vista user) with empty files, what are the chances of getting caught?

And assuming the scan check has been by-passed, can warden or even a GM detect it?

    cheers

I delete scan.dll and keeps coming back, I've ran the game numerous times with it up (should I be concerned?)

I wasn't aware that this was a bannable offense, has anyone ever been permanently banned for this or has it always been temporary?

You'll never get catch unless you brag about it.

    Also remember:
ANY ADT edit, wmo, or dbc (besides cosmetic) is highly bannable offense. As glitchy said, its harder to get caught because of wardens detection ability, but still. The main way that model editors get caught is other users reporting them. So if you are going to do any of those edits, try to NOT get caught
