How would I backport items from TBC 2.4.3 to Vanilla 1.12.1?
For the past week or so i've been trying to add items from 2.4.3 into 1.12.1, however i've hit a bit of a roadblock, specifically that despite having the proper file paths in ItemDisplayInfo.dbc, the models aren't showing up.
According to this thread, https://www.ownedcore.com/forums/wor...-1-12-1-a.html ([Question] Backporting Weapons From 3.3.5 to 2.4.3/2.4.3 to 1.12.1?), the solution to this problem would be to to find a converter that would change the particles system into the one used in Vanilla or hex editing the .m2 files. I'm relatively new to editing DBCs to add custom items, and any good sources for doing a lot of things in 1.12.1 are few and far between, so are there any guides out there on how to, specifically and in great detail, "fix" the models for use in Vanilla?
Thanks in advance guys

The most common tool for hexadecimal editing in the WoW scene is 010 editor where templates can be used to WoW file types.
Basically you need to look at the structure for a M2 file in 1.12.1 and 2.4.3/3.3.5a, and see what has changed. Delete all the new fields added only retaining the data that would exist in 1.12.1. This is quite tedious to do manually and you can't actually delete the data without breaking all the offsets in the file, so you need to null (zero) it out instead. Writing a program/script to automate this would be the best solution.
It's a very specific use-case so I am not sure if anyone would have written such a tool for this before. There are converters for newer patch M2's to 3.3.5a.

This tools works for converting player/creature models from 2.4.3 to 1.12.1, but I have not tried it for items.
