    Modelchange in Cataclysm?

    Hi,
Is there any way to change models in cataclysm?
I have tryed many things, but nothing works for me.
I think the problem is that wow only load the right patch files?
Or does I need some new mpq package programs?

I heard rumors that cataclysm starts off with base\world\etc\etc for world builders for example..

So might just be the fact that you got to change the treepath slightly

yea I have allready tryed every existing mpq name. Not one has worked for me.

What I have seen is that WoW creat locked mpq's at starting.
Example: "Expansion1.MPQ", after starting wow, it creats a file what named "Expansion1-MPQ.lock", after closing wow it will be disappears automaticle.
and that only with the original mpq's, so I think its a small model edit protection, cause the self created mpq's will not be load by wow.

You don't rename to anything else than "patch-A.MPQ"

it's the treepath inside the patch that's important

And you can add your files to the existing MPQ files too.. It's just bad, because you won't have control of the edits anymore

my treepaths are all correctly. I think you mean like ´characters\xyz\xxy right?

No, doesnt work. If I edit the original mpqs, so the wow.exe doesnt start and the launcher starts to re-update over 3,3gb files...
And the edited mpq will be corrupt and nomore to open :/

If you are using the cataclysm client, it's starting with base\characters\xyz

And since you added "cataclysm" in the title, I hope that's the client we're speaking about

Not yet it would seem, atleast not for the Streaming Client...
MadameGrip is right on the techtree for Patch files; Character, Creature, World and a handfull more normaly Root folders are now Subfolders of Base
while some others like Interface, Sounds and DBfilesClient files are sub folders in each region Root Folders

However i have a Theory that the .lst files and (Patch_metadata) have a Role to play as both thise File types which was added with the Streaming client
and I don't know if The Signaturefile or component.wow-data.txt have any part to play with the two others

and thats pretty much is all that i currently know myself...
