My textures are ok in WoW Studio and black in game :(

Hey all,

So I am having what I think is a unique problem. I am trying to edit a gnome face.

I have done the conversions using TGA2BLP and PNG2BLP both with no luck. What happens is I import the texture into wow studio, there I can clearly see it. HOWEVER in game the texture is straight black.

Any ideas?

If you've changed specific settings to the image such as make it greyscale, or remove RGB colors, the image will turn out strange (in your case, black). Although, I think there are other factors at play here as well. Could you explain what you did to the image before exporting it back to blp?

Thank you for the quick response.

I used adobe photoshop. First converted to RGB color. Then did some edits. Then I saved as a TGA file. I also just tried setting back to index 256 colors just now.

No luck.

Is there a particular set of steps after I do my edit? Like how I should save teh file for proper conversion? I have both the PNG and TGA programs. PNG works a little better since it displays the picture in stuido but not wow. If I use the TGA I get just black in both,

That might be it; converting to RGB color. Don't convert the image to anything. Leave the file as it is and only edit the image itself, not any of it's settings (although hue/saturation/etc. is fine) as long as no messages come up about asking you if "you're sure you want to <...>" you should be able to convert the image back to blp and see it in-game just fine.

EDIT: Ok I did some more trial and error. If I just take the standard file and put it in it works. HOWEVER if I do any converting and I just convert to PNG/TGA and back with no mods, it comes out black. I am going to try some different converters and see if it helps. I think its a problem with the conversion somehow.

EDIT2: Having trouble finding others then TGA2BLP and PNG2BLP. If anyone can please link a BLP editor that they know is working I would appreciate it!
edit3: I have now also tried wowimage and BLP converter. I am having zero luck and getting black faces still in game
Is it possible that the above programs arent working because I am using windows 7?
