Need help with Mod-Editing in general [+Rep for help]

Hello im kinda annoyed that half the prograns i get are not working. So ima make a list of stuff that arent and if any one could answer/help/ point me in the direction it would be greatly appreciated. I want to contribute and i have many idea but i need a push in the back to get me started.


So here is what i need to know:

Charater --> Creature:
1.My WoW model viewer dont work(Gives RunTime error).

Using ArtOfIllusion/M2 injector:
1. how do i open m2 files to edit them?
2. i have 3dstom2 but how i get m2 to 3ds?

Animations:
1.Dint find any guides/program on it
2. how do we make our own anymation or mod an already made one.

What i want to accomplish:
1.making a bigger Blood elf (lets say make them have bigger arms and cheast, lets say like a tauren).

Well the WoW Model Viewer site they link is out of date. Google is your friend. And the new site (wowprovider.com) is hosting it says the wow model viewer main site will not be updated till some time 2010.

Secondly on trying to accomplish resizing of individual parts of a model, you are going to need more than the software that is offered on this site for free.

You will need some sort of 3d Modeling software that can read the m2's or at least get the converters. (Glitchy's MeS Can)

I had the same frustration when looking around. But things change so fast in WoW that updating all this software isn't done next day since these people work for free and provide it to the public at no cost.

Look around on google, MMowned isn't the only modeling website. There is more of them, I dont know any by name since I haven't looked in a while.


*edit* On the animation part, I dont believe you would be able to create a animation and use it on live servers. Private server you own/host mabye since you can change the Mpq's Add remove pretty much your the server in a way. I know for a fact Glitchy's MeS will let you change some animations like the swing animations on some things (or at least it did at one point) aside from those few animation answeres I hope it helped in giving you insight.

Yea np, you just gotta dig around a lot to find what your looking for on these forums if people cannot provide the answers. Somewhere down the road someone has most likely made a post about ANYTHING you have a question for.

If not, trail and error is next. But the worst thing is that not to many people do this so.. getting help is somewhat hard.
