[Question] Item missing in Itemcache.wdb ?!

Hi guys,

after mes isn't working anymore, i used a hex editor to change the models an it works fine
but, i have a problem:
i wanted to change my "Deadly Gladiator's Boots of Triumph" into "Slayer's Boots".
but how hard i searched, i couldn't find the Slayer's Boots in the itemcache.wdb

i use a german client of wow, but i know that i can't search for letters like "ö" or "ä".

Anyway, i found everyitem i wanted, but not these slayer boots.

my question is, why does this boots not appear in the itemcache.wdb ?

i would be glad, if i could get a answer

Every item that you have encountered, _has_ to be in there. Be sure to search for "Slayer" and not "Slayer's" once. And: You have a german client but have "Slayer's Boots"? oO If, then "Stiefel des Schlächters". Search for "Stiefel des".

because i cant find hunter t7 shoulders though ive encountered them.

in addition my itemcache modeledit, which i was using 1 day before 3.0.8 wont work anymore.
and my *********** .exe for changing items hangs up, same as glitchys, so they have changed sth with the itemcache

so , any idea schlumpf?

Unless you have the item in your inventory, you would have to see it in game again.

After each patch, your itemcache gets reset. One addon that I have found useful

for this is Atlasloot. You can look an item up and link it by whispering it to

yourself. Hope this helps.

yeah you're right now i got the items in my itemcache.
after using the hex editing, nothing happened..

its still the same.

so actually am i just doing it wrong or is wdb model editin dead now ?

Well every other items, e.g. the slayer gloves were no problem to find.
Just the boots appear nowhere...

Yes, i have the same problem, i did my last model edits very early this day 0:10 or so and i saved the itemcache.wdb and the other important files to a folder on my desktop after edited it.

After the patch today, i replaced the original patched files with my saved, edited files, but nothing happens. At first i thought that the patch also changed the files which i saved.. but this couldn't be, because i saved them on my external hard drive also.
I loaded the saved itemcache with my hex editor and had a closer look on the items i changed; the items were still changed, nothing happens to them and the edit should work well, but it didn't. I don't why, i replaced it, but it didn't work.

Anyway, i did the model edits another time -.- with the original itemcache.wdb after installed the patch and now everything works perfect... ??!! wtf


Does anyone know, why the replacement didn't work ??

I've tried to copy/paste my itemcache in the past when new patches come out and

also found it didn't work. The only thing that I can think is, there must be a revision

check in the itemcache itself that tells the game what version it is. If it doesn't match

up it just writes a new one. Again, I'm not sure but that is the only thing that came

to mind.

They change the layout from time to time. Saving it won't work 100%. Just redo it each time.

You may simply search for the displayid instead of the name to get what you want to change right away.

How does that whole hex editing works to change items? i found a guide about hex editing but it was..well..broken somehow.

I'd be interested in a site, where I can search for hex codes, i google'd a lot, but without any success. I'd be very thankful, if someone could tell me a site for searching.
