    [Question] Guides for Model Changing

I was wondering.. is there a guide on these forums or somewhere else that deals with texture/skin changing for character models, not for bear forms or mounts? The guides on these forums seem to be very good, but they're extremely hard to follow if all you want to do is make your newly changed model look less like a freak of nature and more like the race it's supposed to be (e.g. skin colours, etc.).

There are many things which are meant to be learned on your own. If you can't do it on your own then.. it's tough luck.

Need I spell it out? If you need a guide for it, you're screwed.

Re: [Question] Guides for Model Changing

Well, your opinion is noted but if you don't have anything constructive to add (e.g. a link to a guide, which you don't seem to know about otherwise you wouldn't be posting that) there's really no need to post.

I feel as though the post is better now than it would have been had no one posted, and you would have been left in dark as to your answer. Regardless of your opinion, my posts were not nonconstructive.

I agree wholeheartedly with snake, as I do on a handful of things, unless its religion stuff (lol, flashchat). We give you basic guides that you can stem off of to do just about any forum of editing, but you need to try it on your own. Just play around, theres no harm in doing so, your account wont explode if u mess up, youll just learn how not to do it.

Re: [Question] Guides for Model Changing

That would be all well and good if the guides touched on Character textures/skins, which none have that I've seen on these forums. Then I would have an idea of where to look.

I'm not trying to get anything for free without having to work for it myself, but not having the first clue on how to do the same with the textures as I have with the models makes it a little hard.

Imagine giving an aspiring brain surgeon a scalpel on his first day and telling him to "try for himself".. at that point he must be thinking to himself, "well, a guide with some basic pointers in it would have been quite handy round about now.."

But if you don't have one, that's fine, too. I'm sure I can Google some pointers.. I just thought I'd post here since you guys seem to know what you're doing and I was surprised to find a guide on everything but character skins.

Re: [Question] Guides for Model Changing

The fact of the matter is that your brain surgeon analogy is inappropriate and wrong for the situation. This is not nearly as important or life or death as that would be. This is a cosmetic appeal change to a character in a game. There are guides, tips, pointers to doing stuff here. With that, you are able to branch off and do stuff with what you know, or try new things with the concepts that you already understand.

I learned everything I know without someone teaching me. So tell me, why are you so adverse to trying to do things on your own?

Re: [Question] Guides for Model Changing

Just glanced at the mount to mount changing guide and if you can't infer how to change a texture from that then. as snake said, you're screwed. If you can't figure out how to do something yourself, I'm sure someone will do it for you, but in my opinion handouts like such teach nothing.

    A few things

    1) Like Fault and Snake said, it's not a terrible idea to experiment on your own to find out something.

    2) Character skins work almost exactly the same as creature/item in terms of swapping aside from the fact that there's a lot more.
