Void Elf to High Elf (works with retail)

    ATTENTION:

As of 26 of April 2019, I’ve been banned 6 months allegedly for using “bots or other cheating third party systems”. The only thing I had installed was the Arctium launcher and this model re-skin (Void Elf to High Elf).

I didn’t even use it for the last 4 months or so, but never cared to take out the files from the WoW directory.

Careful guys, REMOVE anything suspicious from your directory.

UPDATED: Added Lighforged High Elves as a third option (High Elves with golden eyes :])
    Hi!

So this is basically a reskin to turn Void Elves into High Elves.

    Few notes:

    - Hair styles were not changed, although tentacles were removed / turned into normal hair
    - Voices were not changed (i.e., /silly emotes will still say stuff related to Void Elves)
    - Void Form will turn your High Elf into a blonde pale Elf instead. If you're into roleplaying, you can play as if this was an effect of the Light or anything. Or you can simply modify the files (tutorial below).
    - Both skin and hair colors have been directly copied from the Blood Elf model (only 8 and 7 options respectively, considering Void Elves don't have more than that).
    - Regarding eye color, there are two options: normal blue High Elf eye color (such as those of the Dalaran guards) and blue High Elf eye color with glow (for an arcane feel). Credit for the male blue eyes goes to Nathancz's Blood Elf to High Elf Compilation.
    - Screenshots attached to this post.

    Instructions:
    1. Extract the zip content into the game directory (usually C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft)
    2. Download Arctium WoW Launcher and copy the "Wow-64.exe" to the game directory (backup your original one!) (remember to redownload this whenever WoW updates)
    3. Play!

    Download:
    - High Elf with eye glow
    - High Elf without eye glow
    - Lightforged High Elf

NOTE: This violates the TOS and can lead into a ban.

FILE EDITING TUTORIAL (HOW TO CHANGE VOID FORM):
If you do not want your High Elf to turn into a blonde pale elf every time Void Form kicks in, follow these steps.

First of all, please understand the files in "Character/VoidElf". The "male" folder contains all files concerning male Void Elves, while the "female" folder contains all those concerning female Void Elves (duh). Inside each, you'll see a list of several files. In the male folder, for example, you will see a long list of "voidelfmalefaceupperXX-YY.blp" files. All these "faceupper" files are the Elf faces. All the "voidelfmalehair00_YY" files are their hair color options. On the other hand, there are the "voidelfmaleskin00_YY" files, which refer to the Elves' body without considering the face. The files that set your Void Form are "voidelfmalefaceupper00_100.blp" (face), "voidelfmalehairvoid.blp" (hair) and "voidelfmaleskin00_100.blp" (body). Please know that, for the upperface files, XX is the face ID and YY is the skin color ID. For the hair files, "YY" is the hair color ID. For the body files, YY is the skin color ID (like with faceupper files). Good, so now you want your Elf to look in Void form the exact same way your Elf looks in normal mode. Follow these steps:

1 . Identify the ID of your current Elf body, hair and face combination. So for example, if your male High Elf skin color is the third option, face is the second option and hair color is the first option, you will have to search for the following files: "voidelfmalefaceupper01_02.blp", "voidelfmaleskin00_02" and "voidelfmalehair00_00". Remember that "00" is the first option, "01" is the second option and so on. If you do not know if your Elf has the first, second, etc. option, just go to create a new Void Elf and recreate your character there. You will then be able to know the option IDs of your Elf by just looking at the number on top of each option.

    2. Copy these files and rename them to "voidelfmalefaceupper00_100.blp", "voidelfmaleskin00_100.blp" and "voidelfmalehairvoid.blp" respectively, replacing them in the process.

    3. That's it! Your Elf will now look normal when turning Void. Please bear in mind that these settings are universal, i.e., if you make another male High Elf, every time this second Elf turns void it will appear as your first Elf! That is why I simply decided to turn them into blonde pale Elves. Unless someone knows a way to bypass Void Form, there is no other remedy.

I don't have a Mac, so I don't know. You should ask this in the Arctium Launcher thread (Arctium WoW Client Launcher (Custom file loading on retail)).

Not sure why but mine seems to be very glitched...I downloaded the launcher and put it in my directory, then the character folder from your mod, and all of that worked. For some reason pauldrons and weapons just clip into the character. Not sure what I did wrong here.

    Hi!

You probably didn't do anything wrong. I have checked the Arctium launcher's version and it has not been updated to support prepatch, so that must probably be it. Nonetheless, Void Elves are kind of buggy in this sense, there is a lot of clipping with armor and weapons.

I'll look into this in a few days, as some RL issues have been keeping me busy. Also, I'm planning on doing Lightforged Elves, so I really hope for an Arctium Launcher update soon!

    Hi again!

You can download Arctium's latest launcher here.

I have tried it and I haven't experienced clipping problems with Void Elves. I have seen some Lightforged Draenei with these issues however. Looks like Arctium needs some fixing.

I'm not sure what the deal is...nothing seems to have changed as my weapons are still clipping into my character. Just downloaded the latest version of Arctium from the discord, but nothing seems to have changed...maybe I need to put in the converter and these Awps things as well for it to work?

Here's an example of what I'm seeing: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Sorry if I'm being a pain, just new to modding WoW and not entirely sure what the problem is...

    Hey, no worries!

That looks like an issue that the guys at Arctium will have to look at. The High Elf mod you downloaded here shouldn't be the reason to any of that (after all, all this mod does is change the skin of Void Elves, it doesn't fiddle with the race's structure or interactions with armor and weapons or any of that), especially considering that those issues you mention also happen to me, but for other races (Lightforged Draenei), which I haven't modded.

I recommend you to mention this on Arctium's Discord so they can have a look at it:

    Found the issue!

I thought my files weren't modding the skeleton or anything like that, but they were in the end. What I did basically is deleted all files that I didn't touch (all those with file extensions .skin, .ske, etc.) and only left those that I did modify (.blp). I have updated the files and added a new option: Lightforged High Elves! Basically High Elves with golden eyes.

I am REALLY sorry for all the fuss and confusion I made! Hope you enjoy

    Hey,

I just tried it out and it works just fine. Are you sure you have correctly installed the files? Check your WoW main folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft) where the "Character" folder should appear. Inside this Character folder, there should be the "voidelf" folder with all male and female files.

Check that Arctium launcher is installed under that directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft) too. Also, remember to download the latest Arctium launcher version (retail, currently 8.0.1.27602 for Windows).

This is great, thanks. I don't suppose there is any way to get rid of the Entropic Embrace effect that makes me turn blue every 10 seconds?
