Ret pally Guide All you need to know!

    The Ret pally guide~
My pally is level 60 i been ret since i made my pally and i never thought of diffrent specs. Ret spec for a pally is mostly based on Pvp and not much oh PVE even though you can still Raid and such you spec is not pref.

1.Talent~ Talents can make or break a pally based on what they choose i've been looking for a while and the best for a ret pally is full 0/0/51 but many people like to tweak it around.. This is the base of the ret pally Tree( The Must in the Talent points)
    5-Improved Blessing of Might
    5- Deflection
    2-Inproved judgement
    5- Conviction
    3-vidication
    1- Blessing of command
    5- Vengance
    3- 2H specilaztion (mispell :P)
    1-Sanc arua
    1-Redemption
    3-Divion purpose
    5- Fanataicism
    3- Sancfidied Crusader
    1-Crusader Skrike
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=qZZxbet00uVcst
This is the bare minimum you need if you want to be a Full ret pally

    This is my build
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=srZZxbetM0uicst
This is a good build but you can tweak it to your desire!

    2. GEAR
The pally would mostly be aiming to have t1 and such.. Its not the best for a ret pally. A ret pally is like a healing warrior You want to get more of a crit chance. I know some people cant get Great BWL and MC gear so here is the ideal gear for a ret pally doing 5mans and 10mans
Helm- Grand Crusaders helm is a simple helm to get and good stats for a ret pally http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18718
Neck-Emblefury tailsmen is great and also packs a crit chance which is a need i couldent find the link but it drops of the first boss in UBRS he also drops a nice FR cloak
Shoulders-Iv'e Looked around and Slamshot shoulderpads are decnt shoulder items i could find but all the other shoulders i found were more Tankish http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13166
Chest- Iv'e Found many chest so here is a few, Enegergized brestplate is also pretty easy to get and great stats even comes with some int which is a huge releif http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18312
Here is a also good one http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=11678
Wrist-http: //wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12936 and http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13400 Are both awsome to use
Hands- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13162 is good , there is alot of good ones out there to but here is the only one i could find that was in a 5 or 10man
Legs- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18380 here is a good one also Ubrs has some good leggings
Belt- Your best bet is http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13502 but http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13142 is good but less Stats and Armor but has a crit chance
Feet-http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13381 is the best i can find...
This is the bacsis of gear now to WEAPONS!!!

2h- If you get oh so lucky the Treants bane and or baron riverdales sword is the best 2h's Here are the links in order http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18538 http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13505
    Other good 2h's -http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12592 http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12583
    http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12969
    and last of them http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13348
    Now to 1h's and Sheilds!
    1h's-http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=14487 aand
    http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13952
    Sheilds- http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18756 http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12602
Pref To NOT use 1h and sheilds less dmg and such

Well this is the end Plz comment And if you dont see a item up there that should me just comment me and give me the link bu dont put in items from 20mans and 40 mans and not quest items and or BOE items OR pvp item!!! im going to make anew guide about all of those and how what to get while pvping like what to aim for.... im also very sorry for links that are not valid when i did it they all worked butif they dont work or dont show as clickable im sorry ill try to fix asap

Re: Ret pally Guide All you need to know!

+rep, great guide but i am going to offer a small change for some.

My main is a pally, lvl 60. My next highest character is a 14 mage... so as you can see i'm a pally. Love my class and have alot of fun with it.

    My build is http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=qZZEfxt0cuVIot

Alot of similarities to yours but mine is very flexable. It's awesome in pve and very nice in pvp.

The biggest problem i have found in pve or just basic grinding is mana... mana is a bitch for a pally. A retribution build wants your points in str/sta so you usually don't have much int. So i found it more important to put the 5 points into Benediction and drop the 3 in Vendication and 2 in Eye for an Eye. Also to save on mana i found the 3 points in Sanctified Judment important and got it rather than Divine Purpose.

I also dropped the points in improved sanctuary aura for improved seal of the crusader for the bonus damage from your judment.

I've found gear very unimportant for pve. Most of my gear is still green with the exception of a few scholo/strat/lbrs drops. Very rarely do any 10mans. And i stronly suggest never touching a shield. I to this day have never had one equipped. I find it alot better to find a 2h with some speed. Get the fastest speed you can on your 2h. We don't have burst damage like warriors so slow don't help us. Put a fiery (if your broke) or crusader on this 2h and your set.

I generally start a fight out by making sure i have blessing of might on. I cast seal of crusader and run at mob releasing it and immediatly casting seal of command. Wait out command till your judment is 1 or 2 secs away from cooldown and if your fighting a humanoid cast repentance (will remove you from combat and stun enemy for 4 or 5 secs) if not a humanoid then cast hammer of justice. Once they are stunned then release that judment of command and recast. If you have a chance for another judment then if you were fighting a humanoid cast hammer of justice and judge, if not a humanoid your stuns are still on cooldown so just release and recast.

Your damage DOES NOT come from judments. On average my seal of command crits for about 100-300 more than my judment of command
. But that stun does help dray an extra 100-200 damage on your release so it's good to use it.

Now in pvp you have your options.. either go capture or offense and play the same as you do in pve with the exception of using your hammer of justice asap. Or be like me, i play defense... nothing but, i love making sure nobody touches my flag/territory. I go to my toolbar and set it up as follows... 1: Judment, 2: Seal of Command, 3: Seal of Justice, 4: Hammer of Justice 5: AOE (name slips me atm). I'll usually stand at my flag and cast my AOE every few secs to draw out any stealthed rogues/druids. If i find one or if i have incoming i usually run toward them and cast hammer of justice. Usually they are trying to run and this stops them. I quickly cast and release seal of command which hits them with some instant damage and starts up your auto-attack. Then i cast seal of justice which does nothing more than keep them in place with the stun chance, when your judment cooldown is up, don't release justice, just switch back over to command, release it, switch back to justice.

1st time posting here (hope in dont screw up)

i also have a paladin as a main. I agree with most of the stuff you said there with a few exceptions. Mana is a bitch. but if you are lacking mana put those 5 points in holy instead of imp blessing of might. (my build: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=siZZVbLt0cuiIot) this gives you mana efficient damage, and you have a reason to melee in raids.

gear wise: i have to disagrre with you on the speed of the weapon. paladins DO have burst, and lots of it. get a slow weapon. and the following combo works very well. repentance>judge command>recast command> hammer of justice> CS> judge command. if you have a slow weapon, the all of your hits should proc a SoC prc. lots of damage in under 6 seconds.

Re: Ret pally Guide All you need to know!

Just as a comment i got a pally as my main to and i would say go after The Unstoppable Force from av i know its not 5-10 man but you can do this solo and in 6-7 days if you dont have much time but with lots of spare time 2 tops. Btw nice spec but my pally has a tad different one just because i though that being pvp specced mana shouldnt be a problem (well i do dumb kamikaze crap which gets me killed so mana is never a problem cause i get rezzed but its better then waiting for people who stand around waiting for someone to start fighting the other side) http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?000000000000000000005030000000000000000005023005102033105331051
Anyway thats my spec and its not that bad i miss out on mana and stuff but at lvl 70 youll have a 45 second stun add the gladiatior set and it becomes 35 second.. The imp crusader judged adds alot of damage and then stun someone and judging command i get about 1k - 1.5k crits so i dunno if this helps anyone but it is what i use
