Reselling items on the AH (saving money) Common sense?

i am trying all i can to get 5k g for my epic flyer and i picked up auctioneer to help me gain the gold thru the AH. Being fairly new to auctioneer, i would buy anything that looked like a good deal. After numerous times of trying to resell, i got frustrated and ended up just vendoring the item. This is not what i had in mind and i was losing more then i was gaining. So i had to think of a way to save the gold from buying and reselling items from the AH.

1. Search for a high level item, i usually use "The Bringer of Death" staff - price does not matter DO NOT BUY IT THOUGH
2. Advertise in /2 WTS The Bringer of Death PST w/ OFFER!
3. Wait for offers to come flying at you, check this price against the current AH price. If they offer more then the cheapest one, BUYOUT. If they dont, say 'no thanks, how about ____G?" raise the offer
4. meet up and collect your guarentee profit.

I realize that this is common sense, but i didnt think about doing this for a while

Theres a reverse scam to this one, be careful not to get tricked into it.

SCAM:
1. You buy The Bringer of Death for 60g(avg price)
2. Post on AH for 100-150g
3. Go on alt saying "Buying Bringer of Death, 200g!"
4. Wait for someone to buyout your inflated Bringer of Death, relog on your main collect profit.

thanks for all your comments, it has definetly saved me a lot of gold b/c i would buy pretty much everything that looked good, and i lost about 50g on items that i just vendored....
