    Dire Maul Farming

First enter DM west, if you do not have a key then take off all your gear and pull a mob next too the door and die. Run back and rez behind the door and enter the instance.

If you look around you can see huge tree pats, you don't want to mess with them. There are also treant packs and a garden type area in the middle. There are 4 Treant packs around the room, and 4 in the middle. Each pack consists of 3-4 treants. If there is a "Gaurdian" mob with the treants which has a purple color tone, do not pull that pack because they have an unlimited mana pool and can heal.

There are also elementals in the middle, you can pull them too and they drop greys OFTEN that are worth over 30s. They also drop blues and greens. I will go over loot in more detail later. For now I will tell you what to do. Stealth around the pats to the other side of the map, there will be 3 archways the middle one has a ramp and you will notice it because of a huge boss "Tenderis" do not aggro him but don't worry he has a small aggro radius. The trick is all about kiting and the mobs pathing. You pull a mob that is a blue elemental, or a treant pack that has no gaurdians. You then make haste to the ramp, and DPS them down while jumping onto the ledge and off. They will path towards you. So if you jump on the ledge they will go all the way around and if you jump off they will take the same path. Thus if you are careful you can kite them to the end of time.

Clear out the entire room besides the giant trees and gaurdians. Once you are done go outside and reset, this is an amazing trick and I made 500g in about 3 days of doing it.

    Loot.....

    1. Tons of BOE blues, especially this one wand that sells for 40g on my server.

    2. Treants drop TONS of living essences which sell for 5-6g on my server.

    3. Greens, the greens are the best part of it. Get an enchanter or make an alt and get him enchanting. D/e you will get Greater Eternal Essences and tons of Illusion dust.

    4. Now that the patch came out they drop Core of Elements and Savage Frond for the Argent Dawn reputation quests, which just happen to sell nicely. They drop in bulk, with in an hour I had around 90 of each.

    5. There is a chance for BOE epics but suprisingly you make more from the grey drops themselves, the mobs drop "Mana fragments" and other items that vendor for 30-50s, it is insane.

    6. Another great drop from these packs are Librams. In one day I got a libram of focus and protection, the prices have significantly dropped since the last patch but are still good for making some money.

    7. The coin drops are usually 20+ silver.
    ---------------------------
    Tips:

    1. There are ghosts (purple) that pat around randomly, if you aggro one just treat them as the regular mobs and use the pathing trick by jumping on the ledge, DPS, then jump off the ledge when they get close to you.

    2. Mana Remants die, and they drain a ton of mana if you are close to them, so try and avoid that.

    3. The Arcane Abreviations usually stop and cast arcane missles, if you see them stop just run out of LOS, or far away they are immune to arcane spells so CS won't work.

    4. The treant packs are always random, if you get the instance with all packs have gaurdians then just kill the elements run out and reset.

    5. Go in there with empty bags you will get a ton of loot.

    Nice guide, gonna try it.

And just something to add, the undeads there can be soloed too by a priest if u can get them 1 or 2 at a time, did this for the essence for my 0.5 upgrade chain, pretty easy. Tho not as good loot, just seemed relevant.

    Re: Dire Maul Farming

Sorry this has been nerfed by blizzard. The big trees now have root... so you cannot in any way kite them. The mana elementals now all have ranged attacks so boohoo can't kite them that easily anymore neither.

Eh oh and the tree packs now all have guardians, or 90% of them.

So the only thing you can kite is the ghosts, elementals if you're good and the tree packs that have no guardians with them.

    Re: Dire Maul Farming

here are some tips from my experience:

if you have problems with the healer mobs here is what u do:

shoot a tree that is not the healer. the healer will start healing that tree, but *only* that tree. the healer mob sets target mob to heal only once. then kill the healer, then the rest.

if you damage the healer first he will set the target mob to heal to himself and you better go out and reset the instance

another tip: stay close to mana burning elementals when they die. they will damage and burn your mana, but then they will have mana crystals that sell for good money to vendor. your mana = gold

another tip: if you are a regular player, with blue equipment is waste of time here. this zone is efficient if you are tier 1+. else find another zone to make money (there are lots of them).

P.S.> hello all, joined today, this is my 1st post
