    Complete Herbalism/Alcehmy Guide

Hello reader! Alchemy and Herbalism is a very great and simple combination
for any adventurer, especially those that like to wonder the land on their
    lonesome.

    II. Herbalism

Your ability to gather herbs is called Herbalism. It is very easy to achieve
expertise in this profession as herbs are quite abundant and re-spawn very
quickly. Herbalists also have the ability to "sense" nearby herbs, making
your job quite a bit easier!

    II A. Why Herbalism?

You pretty much need Herbalism to do anything with Alchemy and vice versa.
Herbalism can also be paired with Skinning and any other profession if you
wish, but I do not recommend Herbalism if your class or other profession uses
a type of "track", such as Mining and Hunters' various mob tracks (not sure
    on this part)

II B. How to level Herbalism

It’s really easy. Just run around until you see an herb and bingo! +1 skill.
There is no reason to get lazy about running to get the herbs until herbs get
gray, which is about 100 Herbalism.

    II C. Herbs

    HERB NAME (X HERB LEVEL)

    Location
    Where to find the herb.

Used for the following Alchemy recipes
What recipes this herb is used in. Recipes are arranged from lowest skill
level use. (XX) denotes what level the recipe is.

    Silverleaf (0)

    Location
Near any newbie zones, it stops spawning at level 10+ zones.

Used for the following Alchemy recipes
    Elixir of Lion's Strength (0)
    Elixir of Minor Defense (0)
    Minor Healing Potion (0)
    Minor Mana Potion (0)

    maybe about 60%+ chance.

    Elixir of Minor Agility (50)
    Swiftness Potion (60)
    Holy Protection Potion (100)
    Swim Speed Potion (100)

the nearby lake. Stranglekelp is always found clinging to the bottom of the
    sea floor.

    III. Alchemy

Alchemy is very incredible, for you will be able to augment many of your
abilities, from movement speed to the thickness of your skin. Good Alchemists
are almost always skilled Herbalists, for their ability to gather needed
    ingredients at no cost.

    III A. Why Alchemy?

Alchemy allows you to augment pretty much all of your stats and some other
abilities, such as increasing your health regeneration and allowing you to
absorb certain types of magic. Some people have said that they are able to
solo higher level mobs with their "free stat buffs", which may be the
equivalent of wearing a free ring(s), to some extent. Some alchemy potions
will be needed for other professions' recipes. Your allies could also use a
boost from your potions in situations such an instance.

    III B. Basics for Alchemy

Do your best to attempt recipes which will increase your experience, until
you can no longer gain any expertise from it. IE, make minor healing potions
    until it turns 'green'

Do save your minor healing potions for lesser healing potions!

Consume your potions instead of wastefully tossing them.

Your ability to concoct potions depends solely on your ability to gather the
    required ingredients.

As your experience grows, you may want to keep ingredients for easier recipes
around for any friends that may require your services.

You will also need vials for all of your recipes, so be sure to keep a good
amount along with you (I think vials stack to 25 or so, not really sure).

    IIIC. Alchemy Reagents

    REAGENT NAME

    Used in the following recipes
What recipes this reagent is used in.

    Blackmouth Oil

    Used in the following recipes
    Elixir of Water Breathing (90)
    Swift Swim Potion (100)
    Free Action Potion (150)

    Deviate Fish

    Used in the following recipes
    Elixir of Giant Growth (90)

    Discolored Worg Heart

    Used in the following recipes
    Discolored Healing Potion (50)

    Oily Blackmouth

    Used in the following recipes
    Blackmouth Oil (80)

    Fire Oil

    Used in the following recipes
    Elixir of Firepower (140)
    Fire Protection Potion (165)

    Firefin Scale

    Used in the following recipes
    Fire Oil (130)

III D. How to level Alchemy

You should be able to make minor healing potions until level ~50-80, and then
Alchemy becomes incredibly difficult to level. All of your recipes will
become gray very quickly, so you'll need to start hoarding away higher level
    herbs.

III E. List of Alchemy Recipes

NAME OF POTION (X SKILL REQUIRED TO MAKE)

    RECIPE
What ingredients are needed for the recipe.

    EFFECT
    What the potion does.

    COMMENTS
Anything I have to say about the recipe.

    Elixir of Lion's Strength (0)

    Recipe
    1x Earthroot
    1x Silverleaf
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
Adds 4 Strength for 1 hour.

    Comments
Useful for Melee based heroes. 1 hour is long so I suggest making them when
    the potion wears off.

    Elixir of Minor Defense (0)

    Recipe
    2x Silverleaf
    1x Earthroot

    Effect
Increases Defense by 50 for 1 hour.

    Comments
Useful at lower levels since 50 Defense = extra belt. I don't see any use
for this at high levels. 1 hour is very long, so I recommend that you make
    these 1 at a time.

    Minor Healing Potion (0)

    Recipe
    1x Silverleaf
    1x Peacebloom
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
    Restores 70-90 HP

    Comments
You will find yourself making a lot of these, as the ingredients are quite
cheap. You may want to use them liberally as well. I recommend making them as
    they will save your life.

    Weak Troll's Blood Potion (15)

    Recipe
    2x Earthroot
    1x Peacebloom
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
Heals 1 HP every 5 second for 1 hour.

    Comments
Lowers downtime for melee heroes. A little expensive. I would definitely
make this if you have (a lot of) spare Earthroot.

    Minor Mana Potion (25)

    Recipe
    1x Mageroyal
    1x Silverleaf
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
    Restores 140-180 MP.

    Comments
Not really worth it in my opinion. It’s really cheap though; just make it
    for skill up.

    Minor Rejuvenation Potion (40)

    Recipe
    2x Mageroyal
    1x Peacebloom
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
Restores 90-150 MP and 90-150 HP.

    Comments
Kind of expensive. Not worth it.

    Discolored Healing Potion (50)

    Recipe
    1x Discolored Worg Heart
    1x Peacebloom
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
    Restores 140-180 HP.

    Comments
I believe this is a Horde only recipe. Otherwise, I think it’s very cheap,
but I am not sure how often the Worg hearts drop.

    Elixir of Minor Agility (50)

    Recipe
    x1 Silverleaf
    x1 Swiftthistle
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
    Increases Agility by 4 for 1 h.

    Comments
I would save your Swiftthistle for something else.

    Elixir of Minor Fortitude (50)

    Recipe
    2x Earthroot
    1x Peacebloom
    1x Empty Vial

    Effect
Increases drinker's HP by 27 for 1 hr.

    Comments
Has the same recipe as weak Troll's blood potion. I'd recommend weak
Troll's blood potion over this one.

    Lesser Healing Potion (55)

    Recipe
    x1 Briarthorn
    x1 Minor Healing Potion

    Effect
    Heals 140 to 180 HP.

    Comments
Definitely turn your minor healing potions into Lesser Healing.

    Rage Potion (60)

    Recipe
    x1 Briarthorn
    x1 Sharp Claw
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
    Restores 20 to 40 Rage.

    Comments
I've never made these. I think these suck, don't make this!

    Swiftness Potion (60)

    Recipe
    x1 Briarthorn
    x1 Swiftthistle
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
Increases speed by 50% for 15 seconds.

    Comments
50% is more then what you get from Shaman's Wolf form and Druid's Travel
form. 15 seconds is not a whole long time though. I think it’s useful if you
    need to run away.

    Blackmouth Oil (80)

    Recipe
    x1 Oily Blackmouth
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
    Reagent

    Comments
If you actually need this reagent, make it.

    Elixir of Giant Growth (90)

    Recipe
    x1 Deviate Fish
    x1 Earthroot
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
Increases drinker's size and increases strength by 8. Lasts 2 minutes.

    Comments
I've never seen anyone under this potion’s buff. But I'd think it'd be cool
for a screenshot. 2 minutes is not long enough, so I wouldn't use this in
    battle.

    Elixir of Wisdom (90)

    Recipe
    x2 Briarthorn
    x1 Mageroyal
    x1 Empty Vial

    Effect
Increases Intelligence by 6 for 1 hour.

    Comments
    Very useful for casters.
