    Archaeology Tips

    Greetings and salutations.

I have Leveled up to 500 archaeology thus far (damn you Zinrokh, proc you bastard!) and I am going to impart some wisdom.

    1st. Get these 2 mods:

    SAL - SAL - Addons - Curse

SAL is a HUD Laser of sorts. You can use it to easily Triangulate a Fragment's position. Once you're familiar with this addon things become much simpler. If you take any of my advice, make sure it is the DL of this mod.

    Archy - Archy - Addons - Curse

Archy is an addon that more or less adds your Archaeology tab to your HUD. Including current digsites, current projects and the amount of fragments and keystones you have. It also shows the direction of the digs on your minimap and has Tomtom connectivity. Also, after each successful dig, it will put a mark on your minimap where the dig was made so you can return to that spot next time if you are pointed in that direction.

    Tips and facts.

Each digsite is phased for individual players.

There are 10 places a node can spawn. After a successful dig, dig immediately again cause there is 10% it could be in the same spot.

Some nodes are bugged and spawn outside of the sites, it this happens, dig once at another site cause it will reset the site (the spawn places, not the amount)

Use your keystones wherever possible, it will leave some fragment change for your next solve.

If you are after a particular race's Epic, horde those fragments until you reach 450, then do a mass-solving. If you are lucky you just might get it!

    Some nifty travel tips.
(Horde only sorry, but these tips can be applied fairly easily to alliance)

    Kalimdor

Digsites north and east of Org
For sites in WS and Felwood/Darkshore. Take the Hyjal portal and fly from there.

Anything far west of org you'll just have to fly.

Digs around the middle of Org

Take the Zep to TB or Hearth to a Central location (more on this below). Pretty easy.

    Digs in southern Kalimdor
If you have unlocked Uldum, use the portal.

This is the fun part, you will get to a point where you need to return to Org to do the Northern Kalimdor digs.

Get Potion of Deepholm - Item - World of Warcraft

This will port you straight to Deepholm. Now simply go into the portal and you're in Org with your Hearth intact (this also opens your options of where you put your hearth, perhaps somewhere central for fast porting)

    Eastern Kingdoms

    Digsite's around northern EK/UC

Flying Looks like your only option here. Let me know if there are any I am missing.

    Digsite's around Southern EK

Option 1. Take the Zep from UC.

Option 2. Take the portal to Blasted Lands at the Mage Trainer.

Digsites around the Middle of EK

Once again use Potion of Deepholm - Item - World of Warcraft
Port to Org then grab the Twilight Highlands portal.

If you are so bold you can jump on the boat's between SW and Menethil Harbor or the Deeprun Tram for a fast trip.

Overall, the grind is a bit tedious. Make sure you have something to keep you occupied while you do it. Music, women, movies... Whatever :P

If any posters have any useful info or any questions, post below

Happy grinding and good luck with your solves!

wonder if this actually changes anything about the "procchance" (or however you call it :P) of getting a rare or epic... i guess not?

It doesn't but it will allow you to have more solves for that race when you get to 450. Instead of using them from 100-450.

If there are any alliance players who have traveling tips that would be great!

Another tip, if you have what you actually want from a Race, save your fragments in the event that they add new items in future patches. Don't just solve willy nilly.

For those, like me, having problems with SAL, there' s another addon that appeared today on curse for triangulation. I really like that one better.
    Here is the link :

Some great tips thank you. If you want to add more tips to your thread, please rather edit the original post instead of double posting.

For ally, best bet is to stick around Eastern Kingdoms. You get a lot in north and south stv, set your hearth to stormwind for quick travel from EPL/WPL. I also recommend to not jump around from place to place, pick a spot somewhere and keep hitting the sites near you, eventually youll have 2-3 (maybe even 4, I have) spawn in 2-3 zones very close to each other (for instance, one in epl.. then wetlands, then badlands and maybe you'll luck out and get a few respawn close to eachother). . Pick up all the new flight paths as you go. I just go afk and tool around MMOwned or whatever while flying. Don't try to bother looking for particular fragments.. just get what you can while leveling. You HAVE to dig a site once its spawn... no way to reset it.
