So, you want to be an Alchemist, eh? Well, with the expansion coming, I don't blame you! Here is the easiest way of getting to 300 alchemy.

Peacebloom: 60 (3 Stacks)
Silverleaf: 60 (3 Stacks)
Mageroyal: 20 (1 Stack)
Briarthorn: 90 (5 Stacks)
Stranglekelp: 50 (3 Stacks)
Bruiseweed: 40 (2 Stacks)
Wild Steelbloom: 10 (1 Stack)
Kingsblood: 40 (2 Stacks)
Liferoot: 40 (2 Stacks)
Goldthorn: 55 (3 Stacks)
Khadgar's Whisker: 20 (1 Stack)
Sungrass: 70 (4 Stacks)
Blindweed: 35 (2 Stacks)
Arthas' Tear: 25 (2 Stacks)
Golden Sansam: 60 (3 Stacks)
Mountain Silversage: 30 (2 Stacks)

Skilling Up

0-60: 60x Minor Healing Potion
60-110: 50x Lesser Healing Potion

110-140: 30x Healing Potion
140-155: 15x Lesser Mana Potion
155-185: 30x Greater Healing Potion
185-210: 25x Elixir of Agility
210-215: 5x Elixir of Greater Defense

215-230: 15x Superior Healing Potion
230-250: 20x Elixir of Detect Undead
250-265: 15x Elixir of Greater Agility
265-285: 20x Superior Mana Potion
285-300: 15x Major Healing Potion

Congrats!

You are now 300 Alchemy! That wasn't so bad, now was it? Well, what are you waiting for? Go farm the flasks, get your reputations, etc ! Make some money!

Hmm, how much does this cost on most servers?

Cost is minimal for the following reasons:
1. IF you buy all the mats off the AH, they won't cost you a ton due to the fact that less desired herbs are being used, and not the heavy hitters that end-game raiders need like Plaguebloom, Dreamfoil, etc. The mountain silversage may cost you a chunk of gold though depending on server.
2. You can sell all the pots made: low level pots to vendor, mid-to-high level pots on AH. These pots sell well; you will make most of your money back with what you are able to sell.
3. What you aren't able to sell, you will be able to use, and that removes you having to buy pots!

To add to the above post:
If you are an herbalist there are some awesome locations for getting the desired herbs.
Peacebloom: Mulgore (everywhere)
Silverleaf: Mulgore (everywhere)
Mageroyal: Barrens/Silverpine Forest (usually in middle of a flat space, or by edge of a ridge)
Briarthorn: Barrens (usually by trees)
Stranglekelp: Bodies of water of course... off STV coast or Silverpine Forest coast is good.
Bruiseweed: South Barrens/Stonetalon Mountains (Along mountainous ridges)
Wild Steelbloom: South Barrens/StoneTalon Mountains (Usually hard to reach tops of mountainous ridges)
Kingsblood: All over mid-level zones like Arathi Highlands, Badlands, etc.
Liferoot: Tarren Mill river... need I say more?
Goldthorn: Arathi Highlands (On small rock formations)
Khadgar's Whisker: Arathi Highlands, Badlands, and other mid-level zones.
Sungrass: Near Jintha'alor for the elite quests is a great area to keep grabbing a few.
Blindweed: Swamp of Sorrows is awesome for this stuff
Arthas' Tear: WPL
Golden Sansam: WPL
Mountain Silversage: YUCK... EPL/WPL/all high level zones basically... pain in the ass to get, and sells damn well because of it.
