There are many ways to make gold in World of Warcraft, from Grinding, Questing, Tradeskills, Etc. Although the best way and easiest way to make gold in WoW is buying low and selling high also known as reselling.

I first started doing this when I use to play Everquest. I use to leave my computer on all day long while I was at work as my character sat in the Bazaar and sold items. I would come home spend around 20 mins looking for cheap items I could buy and the list them again at a higher price. After only weeks of doing so I was able to buy the best armor platinum could buy in EQ for myself and all my friends. It was easy fun and addictive and I couldn't get enough of buying and selling and the tradition has continued into my playing of World of Warcraft.

In World of Warcraft there are many ways to make gold. If you check out our gold Guide 2 and Gold 3 you will see a lot more Stratigies on making gold, and the best ways to maximize your profits.

Lets start off with one of the best and ways of making gold. That is simply buying and selling. This is one of the best ways in WoW to make gold and the fastest way to start earning loads of money. There are a few tools you'll need to have to start using this method that will make all the difference in the World.

Tools

Auctioneer: Auctioneer is a tool that will scan the auction house for you, and remember what every single item is selling for and the price it is selling at. It will also find you items at a certain percentage off the normal selling price in order for you to buy low and sell high.

BottomScanner: allows searching and analysis of the auction contents for specific good buys. When it identifies something that is a "good buy" according to the rules you set, it will alert you and give you the choice to buy the item.

Enchantrix: is an addon which predicts disenchant results based off accumulated disenchant data. It does come with it's own database, so right out of the box, it's pretty good at estimating the actual probability of disenchant results.

Installation: Unzip the package so that the two folders "auctioneer" and "enhtooltip" reside in your
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Add-Ons directory.






To Install Add-ons for Warcraft simply follow these instructions.
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Add-ons
or wherever you have wow installed, that is the default location though.

When you install an add-ons please make sure it is un-zipped in the correct location. When you download the add-ons save it in a folder that you will remember, unzip the add-ons then move the add-ons file into the World of Warcraft\Interface\Add-ons, folder.

Memory Error:
If you try login in and you get an error saying that you do not have enough memory to run the add-ons, then you must do the following. Log into world of warcraft and on the lower left had of the screen you will see a box that says "add-ons". When you click on the box a window should appear showing you a list of add-ons that you currently have installed. In the upper right hand corner is a box labeled "Script Memory(MB)" the default memory is 64, you will want to change the memory to the amount the error says you need.

Keys to Success
The biggest thing that you must learn is Scan, Scan, Scan, Scan, Scan. I can not say how important it is to Scan the auction house daily. The more times you scan the auction house the more of a database that you'll build up and the more correct the auctioneer will be on determining how much things sell for on an average.

You will want to use the auctioneer to find items below the average sale price, but them then relist them in the Auction house for the average price.

- The setup - This is the key features you'll want to do to get started on making thousands of gold

Make a level 1 Alt character with a cool catchy name, or you can use your main it doesn't matter
You then want to go to the nearest Auction house, try to find one with a Mail box near it. Ironforge for Alliance, Thunderbuff or Org. for horde
When you do your scans your going to want to have only the catigorize that you plan on buying and selling items selected
You are going to want to do a few scans so the auctioneer can build up a data base and get the prices for all the items. I would try to and scan atleast 3 times for day for the first week
Once you have scanned the AH and have a good data base built up in the Auctiooner it is time to search for your first purchases
Start the scan with BottomScanner, As the bottom Scanner Scans it will pop up the best buys in the Auction house and ask you if you wish to purchase them or pass.
To find items at below average selling price you want to enter the command in the chat, "/auctioneer broker 1000" By enter this command the auctioneer will scan for any items 10 gold under the average selling price. You can do this for any amount for every 100 = 1 gold. So 400 would = 4 gold and so on.
Using the Bottom Scanner

The BottomScanner is a great tool to help you quickly find items below resale price in the Auction House. You are able adjust the settings of the Bottomscanner so that it will only search for items with the percentage of profit that you are looking to make and the amount of gold your are willing to spend per item.

To Access the BottomScanner in game menu, type /btm. This will bring up the Bottomscanner options and list your current BottomScanner settings.

The first setting I would change is to have the BottomScanner always load with your character, or when he is at the Auction House. In order to do so type in the chat "/btm load always" or "/btm load auctionhouse" This will enable the BottomScanner to always be loaded or loaded anytime you have the auction house window opened.

The next step is setting up the main scan settings. The BottomScanner will come with it's own settings pre-loaded although it is mainly for when you first start out making gold. For example, the setting maxprice is the maximum price the of an auction that the BottomScanner will scan. The way you would change this is by typing "/btm maxprice 25g" This will change the maximum price that the BottomScanner will consider to 25 gold. You are able to set your max price to what ever amount you would like by just changing the "25g" to the amount you want the max price set to.

Here is a list of all the settings of the BottomScanner.

/btm load [(always|never|auctionhouse)]
Loads BottomScanner. If an optional parameter is given, causes auctioneer to load always, never, or when opening the auction house window.
/btm reserve <copper>
Reserves a certain amount of your money from being spent
/btm maxprice <copper>
Sets the maximum price that we will buy auctions for
/btm minprofit <copper>
Sets the minimum profit that we consider an auction
/btm pctprofit <percent>
Sets the minimum percentage of profit to buy an auction
/btm mindeprofit <copper>
Sets the minimum disenchant profit that we consider an auction
/btm pctdeprofit <percent>
Sets the minimum percentage of disenchant profit to buy an auction
/btm enchant <enchant level>
Sets your enchanting level (for calculating what you can disenchant) - must be a value between 0-375
/btm vendprofit <copper>
Sets the minimum profit on vendorable items
/btm commonmult <factor>
Sets a penalty factor on white items' profitability
/btm allowbids <0/1>
Tells Bottom Scanner whether or not to prompt you for items which according to Bottom Scanner have a good enough starting bid price, but for which the buy-out price does not match the Bottom Scanner rules.
/btm minseen <count>
Sets the minimum Auctioneer "seen count" before we will buy an item
/btm safetynet <count> <copper>
Sets the maximum number / cost of any single item that will be bought in any one session (0 for unlimited)
/btm print-in (<frameIndex>[Number]|<frameName>[String])
Sets the chatFrame that BottomScanner's messages will be printed to
/btm baserule <lua>
Advanced users only: Specify your own lua code for calculating the base price
/btm ignore <item>
Ignores the specified item
/btm unignore <item>
Stops ignoring the specified item
/btm snatch <item> <copper> [<count>]
Sets the item's snatch value, and an optional maximum number to snatch, or leave off ' ' to un-snatch the item
/btm worth <item> <copper>
Sets the specified item's value, or leave off '' to un-worth the item
/btm enchant <level>
Sets your enchanting-level for disenchant-based purchases
/btm clear
Clears the AH event log window
/btm dryrun
Begins a test scanning run (must have AH open)
/btm begin
Begins the scanning process (must have AH open)
/btm end
Ends the scanning process
Once you have your settings set to your liking type in "/btm begin" this will begin the BottomScanner Scanning. As the BottomScanner comes across items that qualify with your settings they will pop up and ask if you would wish to purchase the item. As shown below.



As seen above a window will show you the price of the Item for sale in the Auction House, the valued price of the item and the amount of profit you would make if you sell it at the valued price. Remember that the Valued price is the average price that the item sells for each time that you do your Auction House scans. So the more scans you do in the Auction house the more accurate the Bottomscanner will become.


Buying with the Auctiooner

You want to scan the Auction House every day a few times a day! It is very, very important that you build up a good data base in the auctioneer for every time you run a scan the auctioneer will keep track of what every item in the auction house is selling for so when you to search for an item 30% or 50% cheaper then the avrage selling price, the more scans you have the more accurate the Auctioneer is going to be.

Low Level items

Low level items are always great items to buy and sell. For they are very cheap as in 30s to 50s and some sell as high as 1g to 2g a peice. You will not be making a load of profit of each item, but these are items you want to focus on in the masses, I like to load up the auction house with around 20 to 30 low level items at a time and usually end up getting 20 - 40g when they all sell.

Buy Holiday Items

You know all those cool items you can get when the holiday season rolls around. Like those compacted snowballs that you throw at people and knock them back 10 feet. Well after the holiday season is over no one can buy them. Each holiday season find the holiday items that everyone likes and load up on them and save them in your bank for a rainy day, like when no one can buy them! You can then start reselling the items at the price you would like for one one else will be selling the except you.

Make an offer

One thing that most players do not do is /w a seller and ask them if that is the best price they can go and make them a cheaper off then what they have the item listed for. Most of the time a seller is looking to sell an item fast and move on. This is great for you because you can find items that you know sell good and tell the seller of that you only have a certain amount of gold and need that item. Most of the time they will give in an be ok, and sell you the item for less the what they have it listed in the AH. Remember your causual gammer is not there trying to get top dollar for the item, they would rather just have some gold in their

Twink Items

Twink items are very popular in the AH, those are items that you want to keep an eye out for because if you can find them cheap, you can always sell them high. Level 70s always have low level toons that they are willing to spend hundreds and even thousands of gold on, just to make them amazing in the battle grounds at level 19 and 29.

Selling with the Auctioneer

Auction Type

When you list an item you want to list them as buy it nows. There are a few reason for this, one people do not want to sit around and wait 24 hours, or 8 hours or whatever for the auction to end, people want items now! By listing an item buy it now, it will allow players to purchase the item right away instead of trying to have to bid the item up and win it, and you'll receive your gold faster.

Days to sell on

You always want to sell on the weekends and Sunday, for those are always the best days to sell on and do auctioneer scans, for that is when the most people are playing WoW. On Friday and Saturday most kids are on because they do not have school or work, and most people are on Sunday for its a day to relax and they do not have work or school. After loading up the Auction House with all your goods on Sunday you'll be sure to find a mail box full of gold on monday!

Listing Price

When you list and item you want it to always in in 99s. Like if you were to list an item list it for 4g 99s rather 5g. When your searching down a list of the same items the lower price of 4g 99s, will stand out over the 5g.

How the AH Sorts

When you sort the auction house by price, the auction house will sort the items by the mininum bid, so the key is undercuting the mininum bid of an item. By doing this your item will be listed on the top of the searches when players sort the searches by price.

Advertise in /2

Once you get in the grove of buying and selling you'll soon know what items are hot and what ones are not. So when you have certain items that you know people want and you know will sell quick advertise them in the /2 channel aka trade channel. That way players who are not check the AH may just click on the link of the item and ask you the price of it. Putting your good/rare items in the /2 channel while your on is a good way to sell items quickly and you can work with the players on a price.




Some of the best ways to make gold is by buying and selling Twink items. For characters will spend hundreds olf gold just to have a great twink. Below is a list of items that you want to get use to and look for when your running scans in the AH.
