This is my first post so please be gentle, this is just common sense but I haven’t seen it any where so please don’t flame me if it’s common knowledge. I’ve been using this method successfully for a couple of weeks so thought I would post.
This is a technique I use to make money on my server (Skullcrusher EU), this probably depends on the current AH of your server as well as value of shards etc, but on my server it’s good, and you can turn a decent profit for very little outlay.
Ok here’s the deal, you need to have enchanting at around 300 (so you can dis-enchant just about anything). Download Fizzwidget’s Disenchant Predictor (FDP), and Auctioneer, which you get from curse-gaming.com.
The FDP ad-on works by telling you what your most likely to get from an item if you dis-enchant it and to date I’ve found it to be quite accurate. Next, go to the Auction house and scan weapons and armour, it doesn’t matter about quality or even what the item is, just look for items around lvl 55+. On my server there are always a few green around that level, which are around 5-6g however there are always a load that someone has put on for 1-2 gold buyout just to get rid of them.
With FDP it gives you an idea of what it’s likely to dis-enchant to, I check what the item is likely to dis-enchant to, auctioneer tells you the expected value of the item. If the item will “most likely” dis-enchant to mats which are priced higher than the value of item you would dis-enchant then your onto a winner, buy it up and dis-enchant.
Even for those items where it “occasionally” enchants to shards and items which resell at a much higher price, etc. I still take the risk. Really simple, dis-enchant the item and put the mat back onto the AH (or even keep it for grinding up you enchanting skills further if you like).
I do this once or twice a day, and in one example - for an initial outlay of 7g, for 3 greens I got;
3x Greater eternal Essence – 21g
1 x Large prismatic Shard – 16g, 15s
Overall that’s 30g 17s, for literally less than five minutes work as I was waiting in Ironforge for my raid.
Try it out guys and let me know what you think, again my first post so please be gentle.
