1) Why would you chose this spec?
Okay well first of all, its not a new spec, its pretty old in wotlk but the fact is it works. Second the spec it self is very flexible, it all counts on well timed cooldowns and knowing how to move, It is not easy to lock down due to the instant heals but on the other hand it is very easy to get bursted down, unless you know how to use the spec to the max. It does not have the greatest healing abilities due to fact there is no +healing from Int/sta in the spec, but what it haves is very good kiting and offensive potential and infinte mana for those who are good enough at jugding.
In short: You want to have a moving flexible playstyle with good cabillities of Healing on the run and cc.
2) The Spec's And Glyphs
Now for this playstyle there are a wide array of different variations of the spec. I'm listing some of them and will write abit on whats good about them
Basic specs
Basic spec: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft This is probaly the spec which they are all made on, there is one slight variation. The good thing here is the bonus Int which is gonna help you heal more if you ain't that good at keeping to judging every 8 secs. Though in the end, your mana comes from Judging.
Basic spec 2: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft This is the other spec, It got more crit for Holy Light which is gonna help you get out more healing, If you can keep on judging every 8th second this would be my basic suggestion.
Advanced specs
In here i will list some of the full specs there is including my own
Art of War: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft This spec is really for those with a good amount of crit and a finger stuck to the judgement button, It got good healing power aswell as the chance for instant FoL's on judgement. I think this is also the most common spec in the retholy genre.
Sacred Cleansing: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft In this spec you get instead of art of war and the ekstra crit you gain more mana and Sacred Cleaning, now it is not as potent in your healing but it do have a nice effect in the reduction of how easy you get another posion or stuff like that on you again. This is the spec I'm currently using in arena.
You can ofcourse come up with your own depeding on what you would pref, this is all just guide lines.
Glyphs
There are numerous glyphs ingame and I'll list those that could be usefull, and their effect for you.
Major glyphs:
Glyph of Salvation: Reduces the amount of damage you take when you have casten Hand Of Salvation on yourself by 20%
Glyph of Holy shock: Reduces the cooldown of Holyshock by 1 second.
Glyph of Seal of light: Increases the healing done by your healing spells by 5% while Seal of Light is Active
Glyph of Seal of Wisdom: Reduces the mana cost of all spells while Seal of Wisdom is active by 5%.
Glyph of Flash of Light: Increases the crit chance of Flash of Light by 5%
These are all very good depending on what spec you want and how your playstyle is like. My person glyphs are: Glyph of Seal of Wisdom, Glyph of Salvation, Glyph of Holy shock. This is couse i tend to be failing on the judging from time to time so I pref Seal of Wisdom to make sure i allways have enough mana. Salvation help reducing burst damage and just damage overall and is just quiet usefull.
Minor Glyphs:
Glyph of the wise: Reduces the mana cost of your Seal of Wisdom spell by 50%
Glyph of Sense Undead: Increases the damage you deal to undeads while having sense undead active by 1%
Glypg of Blessing of Kings: Reduces the mana cost of your Blessing of Kings and Greater Blessing of Kings by 50%
These are the 3 minor glyph that i feel are worth taking, there are about 3 more which i dont find usefull in arena at all.
In all you should go for the glyphs that go well with your playstyle and spec.
3) Gearing
So you got your spec and Glyphs setup and now you want to know what gear to pick?
Well in the beginning my advice is to go for about 50/50 with Pve Gear and Pvp gear, ofcourse have you nevet Pve'd before but you allredy got good pvp gear(full deadly or above). However Once you start getting Furious gear replace your gear with those as it can still provide the ekstra healing needed, while the ekstra resillience is gonna help you survive better(duh?)
You could also chose to keep it 50/50 though it will still leave you more vurnerable to burst team. This all depends on, is it you or your friend who dies? If it is your friend cause you cant heal enough you should go for more pve gear aslong as it provides more healing benefit. If its you then you should go for more pvp gear.
4) Tips
1) Always help out your teammate with killing a healer or another opponet when you and your teammate are topped, the ekstra pressure might trigger a fault from the other team.
2) This one seems Obiusly but is very crucial and something some healers tend to forget. KEEP EVERYBODY TOPPED!.
3) Repentance can save your ass from heavy dps but if you time it right it on a Dps while his healer is dieing it can give you the ekstra time on the healer to kill him.
4) Line of sight is your best friend in surviving burst teams with casters, it can win a match for you, just make sure you dont go out of line of sight from your warrior if he is below 60%
5) Mark up yourself and your teammate with raid marks, and mark your opponets aswell, this way you will always know where your friend and foes are.
6) Turn Evil and Holy Wrath are brilliant tool facing Lock and DK pets.
7) Something most pala's tend to forget undtill they are below 1k hp. USE BUBBLE!, our class is centered around it. Its the spell that defines us, you can chose to use it offensively or defensively.
Allways Allways Allways conc aura, really this aura can save your ass in so many ways, unless you and your teammate decided to split up so he chases the healer and you drag his dps away then conc aura is the way to go.
9) Against mage rogue setups dont be shy to use aura mastery, a single good timed counterspell might loose the match for you so gogogo aura mastery.
10) TALK with your teammate, constant communikation about what your doing and where you are. Dont be afraid to call out for a defensive abillity from your teammate, Arena is about teamwork, not amazing solo play.
5) Afterwords
I got this idea after reading through this post
Well i hope this helps, its my best knowlegde, if there is enough votes for it i might record some arena games and show you what i do in my games to make them a win and how i play(dont expect wonders).
Besides that, if you got any changes, ekstra tips or anything you want to share, please post as a comment and i will update the main part and give you the credits.
Last words: To make a succesful arena team is all about experience, knowing what your teammate will do next and how to amplifie the effect of that. Arena is about teamwork.
