This is Sn00p's guide to building your reputation!
Why read this guide?
Building a reputation for yourself is important, sometimes it can be vital for enhancing your World of Warcraft gaming experience! Some of these things are fairly obvious, but a lot of the time most people don't bother following these minor tips that could essentially save you a lot of hassle! Who are they going to invite to their raid? The jerk that doesn't heal certain members of the party but has good gear, or the moderately geared nice guy? It's obvious!
Typing
How you type and the language you use greatly affects those around you; it gives an immediate impression of your age and your culture. Someone with fairly decent linguistics can tell by easy to spot signs such as slang abbreviations such as "u" "2" "r" etc., these those practical give a young look as many younger players type like so. Punctuation is also a necessity, though it may seem fairly pointless using at least some capitals etc. correctly gives the impression of a person willing to put effort into how they talk! Let's take a conversation between Billy and Jane for example.
Billy: hi jane how r u 2day?
Jane: I'm fine thank you, how about you?
Billy: im gd ty, wubu2?
Jane: I've just bought the expansion pack, have you got it?
Billy: y
Immediately, I get the impression Billy is approximately 12-17, he types like youths commonly do (don't mistake what I'm saying! I'm 15 myself!) and that is a stereotypical mark upon you. A lot of younger players are stereotyped as "noobs" and such other slanders that imply they're immature and cannot play the game correctly! Coherency is a key to success on first impressions!
Being helpful!
So you're off doing your daily quests when a newer member of your guild needs a bit of help with an instance. They haven't been in your guild very long, so why should you help? Word of mouth! If you boost that player, maintain manners (that'll be coming soon don't worry!) then you can expect them to tell their friends they're in a really helpful guild and that you boosted them. Although this seems minor, done enough you'd be surprised how many people will refer to you as being really friendly, so on and so forth.
So, there's a warrior nearby who has low health and 3 monsters attacking him. It just so happens you're a priest, throw the dog a bone! Give him a heal, it won't hurt and you're sure to get some "thank you"'s! It can be a good way of making some allies, if it's a higher levels alternative character they might repay you with some help in a difficult quest or such. It can be powerful!
Throw a newb a bone eh? Give a few lower levels some gold and advice and they'll love you for it!
The greatest tool in the arsenal... Manners!
If you're polite, kind, and courteous to those around you, as well as in your guild, it shows in the rewards of gratitude you shall soon be showered with! Please, thank you etc. are all amazing spells people just don't cast!
I hope this guide works for you, and all the best!
