I am not the creator of this guide, I am just sharing it
I take no credit for the guide, I didnt see it on the forum, so I thought I'd share it.
- Welcome to WTBBlue.com -
Note that the inscription profession is still being finalized so this guide will be updated after every major beta patch with new information until it is finally implemented on the live servers. As of now enough is known about Inscription for people to start saving the necessary materials to level it. (see below So What Should I Start Saving to Power Level?)
Introduction
Inscription is different from any profession to date while utilizes a lot of traits for other professions. The biggest difference between Inscription vs. any other profession is at skill level 50+, you can start making "end game" items and glyphs (end game in the sense that level 70-80 players will want to use the items you've created). Glyphs are unique in that typically no Glyph is "better" then another Glyph - each have their benefits depending on the situation. So whether your making a skill level 75 Glyph or a skill level 375 Glyph both could equally desirable.
How it Works: The Three Part Process
Inscription is a three part process: pigments -> ink -> glyphs. To create pigments you will have to use the new "Milling" ability to turn stacks of 5 herbs into 2-3 pigments. The type of herb directly affects the type of pigments it creates (see table below). From there you can use pigments to create inks - some inks require a combination of pigments and lower level inks to create. Finally Glyphs generally require a mix of certain inks, parchments (new purchasable item), and herbs to create.
Common Pigments - You will get 2-3 of these every time you mill
● Alabaster Pigment: Bloodthistle, Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot, Mageroyal
● Dusky Pigment: Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp
● Golden Pigment: Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot
● Emerald Pigment: Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whiskers, Wintersbite
● Violet Pigment: Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas' Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, Gromsblood
● Silvery Pigment: Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, Icecap
● Nether Pigment: Dreaming Glory, Felweed, Flame Cap, Mana Thistle, Netherbloom, Nightmare Vine, Ragveil, Terocone, Ancient Lichen
Rare pigments - small chance of obtaining 1-2 of these every time you mill
Note: The names of all of these have changed in the latest patch build - will update this when finalized.

Leveling Inscription
From 1-20:
Silver Ink (1 x Silverleaf) x 20
(Optional) Ivory Ink (1 x Peacebloom) x 20
Extremely simple - just use a mix of Silverleaf and Peacebloom to level from 1-20.
From 20-30:
Scroll of Stamina (1 x Light Parchment, 2 x Ivory Ink) x 10
(Optional) Scroll of Agility (1 x Light Parchment, 1 x Ivory Ink, 1 x Silver Ink) x 10
(Optional) Scroll of Intellect (1 x Light Parchment, 2 x Silver Ink) x 10
Use the Inks you just made to level 20-30.
From 30-50: Moonglow Ink (1 x Alabaster Pigment) x 25 Moonglow Ink is cheap – makes lots of it. You can even make Moonglow ink to skill level 75 if you want.
From 50-60:
Scroll of Recall (1 x Light Parchment, 1 x Moonglow Ink) x 10
Scroll of Recall is a free hearth - definately will be pretty popular and its cheap to make.
From 60-75:
Bleached Vellum (1 x Light Parchment, 1 x Moonglow Ink) x 15
Same cost as Scroll of Recall but will level you to 75 before it turns green.
From 75-85:
Midnight Ink (1 x Dusty Pigment) x 15
This is the first ink tied to Glyphs. You can keep making it to 90 if you want since its so cheap to craft.
From 85-100:
Glyph of Rejuvenation (1 x Light Parchment, 1 x Midnight Ink) x 15
From 100-115:
Lion's Ink (1 x Golden Pigment) x 40
Same as before - you want to level as much as possible with inks.
From 115-125:
Glyph of Entangle Roots (1 x Common Parchment, 1 x Lion's Ink) x 10
15 more Glyphs from the Lion's Ink you made before. From 125-150:
Glyph of Healing Touch (1 x Common Parchment, 1 x Lion's Ink) x 30
You learn a new Glyph at 125 that costs the same and will level you to 150.
From 150-165:
Jadefire Ink (1 x Emerald Pigment) x 40
New ink go go go.
From 165-175:
Glyph of Moonfire (1 x Common Parchment, 1 x Jadefire Ink) x 10
From 175-200:
Glyph of Insect Swarm (1 x Common Parchment, 1 x jadefire Ink) x 30
From 200-215:
Celestial Ink (1 x Violet Pigment) x 100
Glyphs cost more at this point so you'll need more ink then before from this point on.
From 215-225:
Glyph of Rebirth (1 x Heavy Parchment, 1 x Celestial Ink) x 10
From 225-250:
Glyph of Rip (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Celestial Ink) x 30
Here is where it starts getting expensive - notice this is one if the first Glyphs that require more then one ink
From 250-265:
Shimmering Ink (1 x Silvery Pigment) x 120
At this point all Glyphs cost more then 1 ink to make
From 265-275:
Glyph of Starfire (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Shimmering Ink) x 10
All Glyphs past this point costs 3 inks.
From 275-300:
Glyph of Shred (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Shimmering Ink) x 30
From 300-315:
Ethereal Ink (1 x Nether Pigment) x 120
From 315-325:
Glyph of Rake (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Ethereal Ink) x 10
From 325-350:
Glyph of Frenzied Regeneration (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Ethereal Ink) x 30
From 350-360 (NOT RECOMMEDNED):
Glyph of Frenzied Regeneration (1 x Heavy Parchment, 3 x Ethereal Ink) x 50
Suprise! All of the new inks now require Northren herbs - and all of the new Glyphs require Northren ink - so you can only level up to 360 at most until WOTLK is out. Note that this is NOT recomended due to the high cost of leveling a skill in green - and because just making the new ink with Northren herbs will automatically level you from 350-365.
If you follow the list below you will need the following to level 1-350:
● 20 x Peacebloom/Silverleaf
● 25 x Alabaster Pigment (45-65 herbs in this catagory)
● 15 x Dusty Pigment (25-40 herbs in this catagory)
● 40 x Golden Pigment (70-100 herbs in this catagory)
● 40 x Emerald Pigment (70-100 herbs in this catagory)
● 100 x Violet Pigment (170-250 herbs in this catagory)
● 120 x Silvery Pigment (200-300 herbs in this catagory)
● 120 x Nether Pigment (200-300 herbs in this catagory)
● 45 x Light Parchment (15 copper)
● 80 x Common Parchment (1 silver 25 copper)
● 120 x Heavy Parchment (12 silver 50 copper)
If you really really really want to level 350-360 before WOTLK:
● 150 x Nether Pigment (250-375 herbs in this catagory)
● 50 x Heavy Parchment (12 silver 50 copper)
So now that a 1-360 guide is out, what are am I missing? I skipped over 1/2 the inks - there are "rare" inks that are made inbetween every 50 skill levels - (for exmple there is a rare ink at level 125, 175, 225, 275, etc) however there are basically no patterns for all of these rare inks so I did not have you craft any of them in this guide. This might change this guide drastically depending on the Glyphs/items that will require these rare inks.
One last thing to note - the # of crafts to level are estimates - to offset not gaining a level while in the yellow territory I added 5 extra crafts each 25 yellow crafts. So for example from 265-300 there are 25 yellow crafts - so I told you to craft 40 to reach 265-300 (265-275 are yellow, 285-300 are yellow).
