As I had planned to level a character specifically with the intent of trying to get one or more of the 'first to 80' titles coming in WotLK (referring to Achievements - WotlkWiki - Wrath of the Lich King Information ), there are a few tricks I was planning to use to help me get a good head start.
Most are common sense, but hopefully they spark ideas for some.
1) Level to 69, sitting as close to 70 as you can without dinging.
This is so that you can let the character sit and accumulate rested exp to the cap before the expansion. If you ding 70, you aren't accumulating rested anymore.
2) Skip most, if not all, of your class quests.
As these reward maximum experience based on your level, saving these to turn in at 70 (or possibly higher, should you choose to wait) will give you a nice fat experience boost. These quests typically reward more than equal level general quests, so save as many of these as you can (Warlock pet quests and so on). You may even want to wait until 79 to turn them in for absolute maximum effect.
3) FILL the rest of your quest log with completed quests.
This sounds simple, but you may wish to spend some time at wowhead.com checking a few of the Outlands zones to see exactly which quests reward the greatest experience. Not all quests are equal. Some of the quests even have additional quick steps in the chain you can turn in for a little additional exp before heading to Northrend.
Since most of the people leveling to 80 will likely already be 70, and have probably already done most (if not ALL) of their outlands quests for money for their epic flyer, as well as having done their class quests, this helps put you at a nice advantage early in the race.
Obviously you are also going to need to be able to put in A LOT of play time as well, but if you didn't already know and expect that, these titles aren't for you.
Anyway, I hope some of these tips help you on your way to a new title.
