For those of you that don't know (which might be a lot), Lore is an excellent add-on for those RP'ers that want their characters to speak a different language such as demonic, draconic, etc., or just for those that want to stand out.
Step 1: Downloading Lore
Take a trip over to Lore | World of Warcraft Addons | Curse and install Lore.
Once you've installed Lore, go to Lore • View topic - Dialects v8 [Release] and download the dialects file for it.
What you do is extract this file into your Lore folder (\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Loor). Make sure that the dialects FILE gets extracted into the Lore folder and not the dialects FOLDER.
Step 2: Setting up Lore for the first time
This part was definitely a bit confusing for me to understand at first. There's a bunch to do, but don't worry, I'll guide you through it.
When you start WoW with Lore enabled, immediately do one of the following depending on your race.
/lore tablet Common
/lore tablet Orcish
Obviously, Common is Alliance, Orcish is Horde.
Then type /lore and click on "Join Channel." I don't know why, but this has to be done. Then adjust your settings to look like this:
Once your settings window looks like this, click "Run Self Test." If everything turns out okay, congrats! Move on to the next step!
If not, try to figure out where you went wrong. Go through the guide again. If you still need help, post.
Step 3: Speaking different Languages!!
Alright, all that trouble to be simply able to talk a different language on WoW, but it's worth it.
To add more languages, simply do /lore tablet <language>. For example, /lore tablet Demonic
The languages that should be available by default are:
- Dark Iron
- Kalimag
- Elemental
- Eredun
- Demonic
- Titan
- Draconic
- Tier
- Thelassian
- Nerubian
- Druidic
As you add more languages, you can cycle through them by right clicking on the Lore tablet. To speak the different language, simply get the language you want on the Lore tablet and say what you want in /say. Grats, you're now different!
Another nifty feature is that if you want someone to understand what you're saying, you have the option to add them as an interpreter, like so.
Type their name into the field and click the "Add Rem." button. They will recieve an auto translation of what you say in a whisper.
You can also use chat effects, like stutter, growl, etc.
Things you CAN NOT DO with Lore!
- If you are Alliance, you CAN'T SPEAK Orcish. If you're Horde, YOU CAN'T SPEAK COMMON. This is Blizzard policy. It won't work, don't try.
- You can't speak other race's languages. For example, a Human can't speak Darnassian.

Alright, that's about it. If you need help, post. Making this thread took me a while, please don't post something mean. D:
