WoW Dupe Method:

One of our members discovered this method during routine examination of packets (code)
being transmited between the server and client, and found a poorly written loophole that
can be exploited by ANYONE without any software or other detectable third party programs.

Here it is:

Duping of Items:

First lets get a few things out of the way. We claim you may dupe six items, this method 
requires a fair ammount of lag, if there is little to no lag you will only be able to dupe 
one at a time. Likewise if there is a lot of lag we have been able to dupe up 13 items at 
once with success. You will learn after a few times how many you can do at once successfully
depending on your ping to the server and you may repeat an infinite ammount of times.

Second thing is the duping of gold, you cannot directly dupe gold, however here is what we do:
Dupe an expensive item and sell it many times, then purchase from the AH something GODLY that
you can easily get a few hundred gold per listing, then dupe many times and list or sell to
a vendor if you are paranoid of selling the same item (not a bad idea). With this method we
were able to have 4000 gold at the end of 8 hours on a character that started with 0 gold and
no blue or purple items.

Now on to the method:

Here is the basis of this method:

Unlike in Diablo II when the game saves all characters as an item is transfered in WoW the server
first saves the AH, and then saves the character when you list an auction. The delay is only about
a half a second in between so it is essential that you have a latency of at least 100 ms over your
normal latency on the server you wish to dupe on. Finding an older overpopulated server or duping
at peak playing time helps a lot. The more lag, the longer the delay between saves, and the more
items you can dupe! With no lag if you are quick you may still dupe one item.

Steps:

1. Aquire the item you wish to dupe, we recommend something with a low auction fee your first few
times because almost nobody gets a successful dupe the first try.
2. Head to Stormwind or where ever your favorite auction house is (any auction house will work).
3. Now steps 4 + 5 must be conducted as QUICKLY AS POSsIBLE!
4. List your auction, prepare everything so you are one click away from being able to list your 
item but do not list it yet. (if it is really laggy you may quickly list 3-6 items but be as fast
as possible and immideately proceed to step 5).
5. Click the final button to list your auction and hit alt+F4 to exit the game or unplug your 
internet, remember timing is everything here, if you are not fast the AH will have your item and 
it will not be copied!

If you timed it right the Auction House will have saved first, and your character will not have 
had a chance to save, thus the Auction House will have your item, and it will still be in your 
backpack as well. Now either let it sell or cancel it and pick it up from the mailbox!

FAQ:

My item is just going to the Auction House, I'm not getting a copy, what is wrong?

There are two reasons this may happen. A lot of people have this problem at first before they get
some practice with the method. The number one reason is there is no lag, it is desirable to have a
lot of lag, but if its your first few times you will probably not be able to dupe unless there is at 
least a little lag. We recommend for new dupers that you figure out what your ping (latency in ms or 
milliseconds) is to your server on a normal playing day. Then attempt to dupe when your ping is 200 
ms or more over that, after you have some practice you should be able to dupe without lag.

It is taking a few seconds to quit, what is wrong?

Don't use the exit game option, even if you think you are fast it is NOT quick enough. You will need
to alt+F4 within a half a second from listing your auction. If alt+F4 does not work on your computer 
for some reason, have one hand on your ethernet cord and one on your mouse. As you list your auction 
simultaneously unplug your internet.

I can dupe one item but whenever I try to dupe a few at a time they are all just at AH, What is wrong?

In order to dupe multiple items at a time you need a significantly more laggy server. When it is really 
laggy the character save occurs 30 seconds to a minute after you list item, allowing you to list many 
then log off. If its not working just dupe one until its more laggy.

I'm loading up lots of downloads and web pages to make it really laggy to dupe many items at once, 
but its not working, what is wrong?

Both the AH and Character are stored on the Blizzard servers. This means you need the servers to 
be lagging, not you. The bug that is being exploited is a delay between the save times on two 
different files on the servers. Once connection is severed it aborts the attempt to save to the
second file (your character file).

I have tried many times and read the FAQ, I am positive I have done everything right but it is 
still not working, what is wrong?

tried to do it (kinda feel stupid) it might work but i doubt it, i timed my thing like perfectly... maybe 0.0333 miliseconds got through before i hit alt F4 and it didnt dupe

Well (from the best of my knowledge) the client waits 10 seconds from the time you log/alt+f4/disconnect to save a final copy, I can hardly believe that this would work.

I'm not sure this would work at all, maybe it was diablo2 that this 10 second timer was activated, I can't remember for sure.

Not to mention, is there any formal packet information from a warden expert to prove that the 'AH' info was sent first? I hardly believe that warden/blizzard would leave such an obvious loophole open.

I'm not knocking the 'exploit.' I am simply trying to provide alternatives/theories. If someone can build on this and take it from there, feel free.

Every and all possible lag based method of duping was made impossible a while ago. Iirc You can still dupe but it requires almost perfect situations with lag which would be impossible to pin down, And all items would recieved while duping would disapear on rollback as the orginal item and the duped item would have the same in-game item ID.


You most likely bought an out-dated guide for duping back when it was possible to do it.

You know actually to my post up their, I'm pretty sure it would require a blizzard server crash to dupe. and even then I only know for a fact you could do it with quests.
