Advertise and Switch Scam

Ok, this may seem unlikely to some but my friend actually did this when i jokingly suggested it in Ventrilo one day and it seems to work about 1/3 of the time. The beauty of this is also that I really don't think that you can get banned for doing this type of a scam and its quick cash!

OK now what are we going to try to accomplish?

Must have two items that have a similar icon but one is of considerably less value than the other. For example in this scam we used

Large Brilliant & Large Prismatic Shards
&

What we are doing is Advertising that we are selling Large Prismatic Shards, Value of 25g+ and then when the trade window opens they put in the money we put in Large Brilliant Shards, value of about 10g instead then quickly push trade hoping they will do that same.

Seems pretty dumb doesn't it?

Yea it does and is, i would make a alt with bank in the name like everyone and their mom does for the "bank" alts. And then say that you are having a bank sale or something which is why you are selling Large Prismatics for 18-20g a piece then BAM switch for a 8-10g Large Brilliant for a marginal yet instant profit.

To be honest i don't know if you can be banned for this but it seems to be a buyer beware kind of thing where they clicked accept also they shoulda known what was going to happen in the trade window but didn't... Anyways this isnt by no means good way of making money but I'm going to be trying it because theres a HUGE supply of Brilliants and lots of people want Prismatics, PERFECT TIME for something like this.

Im sure there are other probably better ways of switching items that have similar icons and for more profit! And I will be looking and posting them here when I find some.

I hope this wasn't too horrible to read or anything, trying to contribute is hard when you have a community that knows nearly everything :banghead:

This does work. I used to do this with librams for faking scryer tombs but it turns out i was just scamming myself

But you can be banned for this can't you? Cause its kinda like removing gold in backspacing... But new type and easier cause you dont have to switch right away just sell different things then you advertise and make up a bs story like you were selling both and you already sold the other so you just expected them to be buying the other

Yea, admitting that its a low success rate but doing this on an alt and scamming someone you know... priceless, hopping on vent and bragging about it. More fun than anything but if you don't think it sounds fun then i wouldn't do it :P

See, Chief Brigadier Armor, is a VERY common drop around 5-10 on my auction house at any given time... Icemail Jerkin on the other hand is very very low drop, maybe one on there very 2 weeks [servers will differ]

Also, if you have 1 icemail jerkin, put it in trade, then quickly switch with brigadier armor and click trade. Woot, make yourself anywhere from 100-200g, and its repeatable for how many times you can buy Chief Briagadier Armor.
