Epic variation on the Pirate Scam

If yiou haven't already done so, read the pirate Scam.

    Ok now....

lev 60's in raiding guilds usually have the moolah so why not target them with a similar mail and present on COD

Have the text go something like this

Ahoy {targets name}, I be seein' that ye and Ye shipmates be havin' found me booty map in one of them dungeons you raided

Be ye supprised when ye came t' come across thar be nothin' at th` wreck site? Figures...

I felt bad so me an' th` rest o` me buccanneer buddies be havin' decided t' send ye a Purple present. Oh come on now, nothin' in Azeroth be free! Bah! I be willin to part with it for the mere price of 10 gold. What do ye say?

    Cuerzo, th` One eye`d buccanneer

The trick here is that we are making it look like something one of their raid team picked on a raid up and they are getting an epic item for 10g.

We are also not using an actual name of an ingame NPC so we can't be accused of impersonation - it is just a good honest to goodness cod scam.

This one is racking up about 10g in every 10 letters sent

So far i got to be pleased wit that hit rate.

So far i have made 120g and i am not hammering it at all.

Re: Epic variation on the Pirate Scam

lol i know they are not rich - thats why we ask for 10g and not 500g

Scamming people in good gear is sweet esp if they havent got lots of gold to start with - not least becasue they think they are better than other players becasue they spend their gametime raiding with a good guild not grinding in pvp or grinding cash like most lev 60s who are not in good raiding guilds.

Your observation is perfect for the fake gold seller scam - i am sure a lot of people will assume a t2 equipped player is quite well off when as you say they might not be.

The gold seller scam will work with lots of players and you could argue sending it to players not in top guilds is better on average as those players are quite likelty to have more gold than hardcore raiders.

Re: Epic variation on the Pirate Scam

oh yes indeed . was tried with a major variation but this aatracted a GM warning.

basically made up a letter from a npc in cenarion hold offering a piece of battlegear .

You must not use real npc names or refer to bosses etc in your mail and youll prob escape a ban.
