I searched, and couldn't find anything, So i've decided to post.
I found this out a while ago, by deleting my paladin alt (level 40) for no apparent reason.
I got a GM to un-delete my character, to find I was nakee, and that GM's couldn't give my items back.
So, I decided to do some instances, and I got most of the BoE green mail/plate, rings, necks, capes, and weapons. Mainly because I was wearing some raggity greys I found on kobolds in elwynn.
So- onto the scam.
[1] Buy or Loot a 'hobo' outfit. 'Hobo outfits' contain a mixture of low level items, generally cloth or leather. 1 or 2 lvl 10/15 greens (optional).
[2] Find a group for an instance you know drops some nice(ish) greens, or has a number of chests.
[3] When you join the group, tell the people that your sorry, but you were hacked, and you have no decent armour/weapons.
[4] Ask if you can need stuff that has the right sort of stats for your class.
(And make sure its the right sort of armour, so if your a warrior, and a cloth belt with +25 stamina drops, dont worry too much if you dont get it)
[5] Wear some of the items (the most prominent ones; Such as cloaks, weapon, helmet, shoulders)
[6] finish the instance
[7] Hearth to the AH, and sell what your not wearing
[8] put your hobo outfit back on, but keep the items you were just wearing.
[9] Find another group
[10] when you get items in this group, wear your other (already soulbound items), and people shouldnt really notice (if they do, just wear your new items and vendor them)
[11] Rinse & Repeat.
[Extra] If you really want a bit more, ask if you can pick an item from a chest if you encounter one, and let the other people have the rest.
