The codes become invalid after you enter them at login right?

What happens if you click the generate button 2 times in a row? Do you have to remove the authenticator from your account and then reattach it again?

If you press it twice in a row you just use the second code. There is no need to remove the authenticator from your account. It's a very fail safe item/system!

It has a keychain clip to add to your keys or to hook a string to it to lock to your monitor

    Brickhouse

I keep mine on my keychain and apparently its really durable. Had it for about a year and banged it around plenty.

Also, the codes it generates are timed, making each one work for a short period. Most of the time if you press the button again you get the same code. But if you wait about a minute you'll get a different one. I haven't bothered checking how long the 'window of steal/hack opprotunity' is on each code, but I'm guessing it would either be impossibly short, or not worth the amount of attention it would take to pull it off.

Regardless, what has an anti-hack method got to do with scamming?
    /facepalm.

The Scam Section is back to the way it was originally intended to be way back. Which is an area to warn people of scams/hacks/etc that are out there, and how to AVOID them. Sure my post isn't pointed at any scam in particular, but having an Authenticator will help ward off any attempted hacks/scams.

Next time maybe you should READ the link Stabatha posted for you instead of just assuming you know what you're talking about. /facepalm

EDIT: Here, I will even provide a Copy/Paste from the post KuRIoS made about the new changes here in the scam section, since you're probably too lazy to look for yourself:

"This section is being turned into what it was MEANT to be, a Scamming PROTECTION section("Whitehat" scamming).

NEW THREADS NEEDS TO BE APPROVED BY A MODERATOR BEFORE BEING SHOWN ON THE FORUM"

So not only does my thread abide by the new rules, it had to get APPROVED by a moderator before getting posted. If you have any further complaints about the changes to the Scam Section, please do it in the thread provided above by Stabatha where it is supposed to be posted. Thanks.

I use the mobile app version. Been playing since release and have yet to be hacked. But the mobile version is free, and well that's a small fee to pay for even more piece of mind.

I've had the authenticator for almost a year now. I used velcro to attach them to my keyboard as no one else shares my home but me. Plus I can remove it if I go on a long trip and take my laptop for online WOW gaming.

The only major drawback to this authenticator is the internal battery. There is no way to repair or replace the internal part and someone on Blizzard forum claims it self destructs if anyone took it apart (not the spy movie type exploding self destruct, just be completely unusable)

What I think works is the internal RTC is synched with the master authenticator server during assembly, and has the unit's serial number programmed in. How it calculates the number I don't know (and hope no one does) but between the current time and the serial number it pops the number and changes it every minute.

Now the battery is supposed to last some years, around 5 years but when it does die you have to call Blizzard CS to have it taken off your account as you can't log in at all!

iPhone version should be fine if you always recharge it. Otherwise you may need to wait a bit while you plug it in, get it powered up, and run the authenticator. Broken, dead, or stolen iPhone? Gotta call CS as well.

Still worth it no matter where you live, no matter how clean your system. Even if you use Macintosh or Linux with Wines or w/e get one anyway. Your account is not OS specific!
