This just hit me when I was running an alt through RFD, was just looking in my inventory and found this out.
We all have heard, seen, thought of, or fallen victom to the trade scam where you take out the item really fast, they accept you accept and it's all good right? Trying this out you will see how hard it actually is to make people fall victom to it, the timeing and everything and then a great chance of being banned as it is a clear scam.
Look into the auction house, lets use a midnight mace as an example.
The picture of this mace, is nothing but a skull. See my drift so far?
This skull looks EXACTLY like a "Lifeless Skull" this cons gray, is stackable, does nothing. Worthless. Found of almost any skeletons at any level.
Now say you are trying to sell this mace for 10-20g and someone buys, go up to them and open a trade with the REAL item and they shall see it. Wait for them to put up money then the second they type it all in (Being confirmation they saw the item, swap it for a lifeless skull in the trade window. They won't see this happening. Both hit accept and boom, you get money, they buy the skull.
Continue selling the mace as many times as you want, if someone starts to get on to you and broadcasts your scamming, sell it on the auction house and find a new item. Best doing this on level 1s.
This scam is not just for that one item, it was an example. If you look nearly EVERY item (Besides super epics) will have a replica, maybe it's a green item, a gray, whatever it is.
One more thing I would like to add. This works well if you are also trying the ol' take the item off and accept trick, and if they see you trying to do that and say to keep the item there. Go ahead
