This DID in fact work around the first week of december. I remember on my server people there were a couple of lvl 1's handing out 20-30k gold to anyone, out of the blue. I think some of the people who actually accepted the gold got banned.

yes there was a bug that allowed duping however it got hotfixed and blizzard later banned all the ppl who did the dupe and also all ppl who received duplicated gold, they even banned ppl who just received the gold in their mail from anonymus persons and then they got banned....
